Bluelight.com,
Good to be here. Look forward to some good discussions and hopefully to receive some good advice from those here who can help. The name's Nicholas, I'm a 30 y/o male with two sons I love more than my very life. I'm a musician, artist, father, poet...but feel more than a bit disconnected from the world b/c of a decade-long opiate dependence that has hooked its talons into my brain, etc. yeah, so, I'll be around to blow off some steam and to discuss some facets of reality---anything to defeat this opiate demon/angel.

...It's Great to meet the group here!

Nicholas

Haha, a quick note-- for some reason I misread the forum posts and thought I was the first new member of '012. Ignore that statement.

Hey Immortal welcome to the forum I just joined today as well. How do you feel the drugs help/disable your music? I notice the tone and heart from which I'm making music has shifted to a very dreary state of mind as if I'm trapped within myself or something. Well anyway just wanted to welcome you man look forward to come good conversation within the forum

Hey there immortal i stand :) I think you'll find some good people around the traps - if you find yourself struggling, i'd suggest taking a look at The Dark Side as you'll find like-minded and compassionate people to chat to. <3

Gobble-the honeymoon phase of my addiction helped produce songs that I found pretty good. I was proud of them and felt like it was time for an album, all pumped up. The past few years, though, only the 'upswing' of the high gave me moments of inspiration to even pick up the instruments. Every other moment was spent wishing I was feeling that first rush of the day again, thereby all else in my life was thrown to the side.

Here's what has helped me as I've been off opiates for 11 days now: the listening to the bands that inspire me. It's like medicine man, I can't describe it any other way. You mentioned your style being dreary... listen to CANDLEMASS, especially their 'Nightfall' album... great doom metal from back in the day. Check it out man, and thanks for the welcome. Hope all is well.
