Hey man, yea the straight tube will give way better rips for sure, if i was picking that is the one id go for. The other one will have more drag for sure and there are better percs out there.

Good call. The tar catcher bong is one we can actually get here in Australia. I used one of them 17 years ago and while it looks impressive is a pain the arse to clean and not the most amazing thing to smoke through. Plus its not glass on glass.
The glass you guys get in other parts of the world is amazing. The second pic looks like a decent unit to spend your money on IMO.

Those medicalis rip nice, just like the lux's. I like the lux minis, ive got a couple of them, had to have the beaker and the straight

I had a weedstar one with 6 arms on the perc, but my girlfriend broke it too.
Weedstar bongs hit well, and are incredibly cheap for the size/features - but they're not very well made, or very strong. The ones I was lookign at in the shop where I got it, i passed on two other units due to defects (one had a hole in the bowl so large that most glass screens would have fallen through, another one had cracks already), and the one I got... it was standing up, and got knocked over onto something, so it was at a 45 degree angle... that was enough to break the silly perc.
If you buy it, recognize that it should be treated as disposable.

I prefer the straight one. As other posters have mentioned it will hit better and will be easier to smoke from... they both have their advantages and disadvantages but I would go for the straight tube! Just my .02

I got the biohazard elite (1, 8 arm perc, ice catccher) and it's alot nicer than weedstar bongs, was looking at WS messiah's illusion but decided to wait on something better......Hardly any drag at all, eats weed a bit but it is a bong.
No I dont work for them or anything retarded....speaking of which, this is an observation only but it seems like the glass is thinner at the beaker bottom than at the top where you hit it.....not positive but the noise is noticably different when tapped on.

I must have been lucky then, my weedstar was fairly well built. The downstem broke when it was smashed into a wall and the whole thing broke when one of my friends kicked it but before this it did survive quite a hard life.
They do have some nice pieces for the price though i've always loved the look of the Messias Illusion bongs like this one.

Weedstar is horrible cheap mass produced Chinese glass. Besides, the guy is a complete tosser too. He'll find a custom blown piece he likes, send it off to a factory in China, and churn out thousands at a fraction of the cost, pricing many blowers out of the market.
Not sure where you're based, but I'll assume US (on account of the $), just go looking in your local glass shop. If you don't want to sacrifice on quality, don't buy weedstar.

^Totally true the weedstars are low quality glass, but they are a decent, cheap glass on glass with diffusion. Lots of nice tubes out there these days and TONS of shitty ones being mass produced overseas. That is why there are so many "glass snobs", like myself, who really like smoking out of high quality pieces. Once you hit a good tube you wont want to go back.

Many headshops around here have started stocking nothing but crapola chinese imports. Weedstar, no-name import brands and fake roors is all i saw at 2 of the 4 local stores with glass. Of the remaining 2, 1 has only a handful in stock at any time (they're a stoner store, mostly dedicated to books and posters and stuff like that, with a few pieces for sale), and the other is only about half decent glass (rest is import crap), and is rather pricey on everything... (and happens to be hell to get to - maze of 1-way streets, with really long blocks with red lights at the ends (2-3 light-cycle delays), and you have to budget an extra 20 bucks for the parking ticket you'll get because there's no legal parking for non-residents within walking distance)

i have a weedstar... which i use for "guests"... when im alone... toro to the rescue 
I have two low-end glass bongs, a smaller import with a perc (bought a replacement), and a larger domestically made, yet very simple one with no "features".
I would certainly avoid using the import for guests, because although it hits better (due to the perc and diffuser stem) it's poorly made and probably quite fragile, while the domestic but basic one feels alot sturdier.
Guests should be offered use of the most durable bong in attendance, imo. Most breakage (not counting breakage unrelated to use, like when my gf accidentally kicked over my old import bong, or when i was packing my small piece (a truly wonderful little thing - 6 inches long with a curl in it, no water or anything, but fit great in the hand, and hit fairly well for it's size) carefully into a sock for transport, and didn't realize that the sock had a hole in the toe. I still really miss that piece. It was so convenient.))
Also just looked more closely at those two bongs posted by OP, the weedstar is a far better choice. First, ash/tar catchers are kinda stupid, and secondly, the weedstar is glass on glass, while the other one has multiple rubber seals that look kinda dodgy)
