So this morning I took 1mg of alprazolam, drank a cup of coffee, and now, 8-9 hours later, I'm still buzzed! WTF? I mean, it's awesome, but, how come? I'm feeling really euphoric, speedy and talkative and overall really content. How is it possible?

I posted in another one of my threads all the details:

I'm really curious, how the fuck am I still buzzed off 1mg of alprazolam after all this time? Plus I'm getting those paradoxical effects from benzos, instead of feeling sedated and such, I feel really talkative and chatty and full of energy. And I have a decent tolerance too... So less is more?

Well it sounds like you have no tolorance. When i first started taking xanax i would sleep a full 24 hours now if i were to take it i would not even get a buzz unless i took around 6mg....

Except I'm no newbie to benzos, back when I was living in the States I would take those 2mg Xanax bars recreationally all the time, and I also had a script for 30mg temazepam/2mg clonazepam daily for a period of about 9 months (all this about 2-3 years ago). And I've been abusing the shit out of benzos these last couple of weeks (after nearly 2 years without touching a single benzo), read my post in the link I posted for the details. ;)

And about the tolerance thing, I think I read something about benzo tolerance being semi-permanent? Or is that a myth?

I'm just wondering, because this has never ever happened to me before, especially at such a low dose...

Well when you take a long break from them its possible to lower your tolorance.

If i were you i would enjoy and indulge in the feelings. :)

Xanax o nom nom

Yeah, but over these last 2 weeks I've been abusing the shit out of midazolam, clonazepam, temazepam and diazepam (especially the midazolam)... Isn't there some kind of cross-tolerance between them? And why is it that yesterday I took nearly 8mg of alprazolam and it only lasted a few hours and didn't feel that great, just a bit relaxing...then with a few beers it just ended up just putting me to sleep, I felt none of the awesomely euphoric feelings and speediness I feel today off 1mg...

Hmm idk maybe you just have the perfect body synergy today :)

They do have a cross tolorance btw..

If you take it tom. Let me know i it happens again :)

Pretty fuckn cool though enjoy :)

Yeah, weird as fuck... I dunno, maybe it's cause I didn't sleep last night (well except the 3 hours I passed out after taking all that alprazolam and drinking a whole bunch...), and the whole cocktail of benzos I've been stuffing myself with over the last few days... Or maybe it was the coffee in the morning, I have no clue! I usually don't drink coffee either, so that could be it, but I doubt it.

It's funny though, because it came in waves, I felt really speedy and talkative during the morning, then a bit more anxious during the afternoon, then really speedy and euphoric towards the evening, and now I just feel pretty calm, euphoric and peaceful. :)

By the way, what are the mechanisms behind the paradoxical effects of benzos? Anybody know?

Did you drink any grapefruit juice, take cimetidine, or take any other CYP3A4 inhibitors this morning?

If not, you probably dosed too high. Friends without benzo tolerances feel 1-2mg of Xanax for 6-8 hours, the subjective effects of Xanax should last 3-4 hours imo, so try taking 0.5mg next time. Maybe 8mg of Xanax was too heavy to appreciate the subtler effects of a regular benzo dosage? Personally I enjoy benzos at regular dosages since I can actually enjoy them, instead of being zonked out of my mind on a bunch of Xanax, stumbling around confused until I pass out.

My theory is accumulated blood serum levels of benzos...

I had an experience one day where I took (spread throughout the day) 10mg of xanax, 40mg of hydrocodone, and 90mg of morphine (30mg ER formulation) and was completely fine...completely functional...was able to drive...the works...

the next day...

I took 60mg of ER morphine in one dose (which would have been fine if not for the day before) and *BAM* couldn't quit nodding, couldn't stay awake, don't remember much at all from the night...was told I was breathing really weird and was convulsing at some points...

you have to remember...when you take large amounts of drugs...they stay in your system longer...at the very least...they stay in your blood at higher levels for longer periods of time...

umm...wrong drug methinks there...

green OCTAGON=opana...

green triangle=3mg xanax XR...

I would always get real euphoric and actually have more energy when I took a bar or two, it actually made me want to work out or do something active. If I took more than 2 or combined it with anything else usually it wouldn't go like that though

effects of xanax lasts for days in itself (the tranquilizing/ euphoric effect however is YMMV), if i take it on friday night the weekend wizzes by. although towards the end you just feel kinda off-centered and irritable.

Hmmm, it's funny though, cause I think the coffee has something to do with it... I drank coffee this morning, didn't take any benzos or anything and I felt the exact same effects as yesterday with the 1mg of Xanax, speedy, talkative, sociable, etc... WTF?? Does caffeine interact with benzos in any way?

If anything, caffeine makes benzos less pronounced.

I think you're just chasing the dopamine, to be honest. Caffeine, nicotine, benzos, opiates, stimulants, psychedelics, alcohol, any recreational drug, really, all have one thing in common: they release dopamine, so they reward you in an unnatural way.

I stand corrected...

but you proved with that link that not all recreational drugs are *statistically, significantly* dopaminergic...

(as lorazepam didn't show remarkable increases in dopamine)

Lorazepam's the recreational ugly duckling in its class, that's why no one prefers it over other benzos.
