15yr old dies after attending EDC (CA, USA)

Why would her parents allow her to attend a rave at that age?

I keep seeing this statement in this thread. Do any of you know any 15 year olds at all?

Who said her parents "let" her go? 15 year olds are notorious for doing the exact opposite of what their parents tell them to. 8)

No offense but this day and age with the technology we have we can track anyone down to about a meter of there location......So now let me ask you this, if this is true then why not put a gps locating program on her phone in order to avoid this situation.......I ONCE AGAIN make reference to the fact that if this girls parents were involved in her life this would have never happened.....PERIOD.......and believe it or not 15yr olds are stupid and the fact that she wass able to pull on over on her parents then ended up in her own death only once again goes back to the parents lack of caring and responsibility to there child.....

Im so sick of people blaming the events or the people that go to evetns like EDC for injuries and deaths like this. It makes me sick becuase people can go to these events and have a good time without getting fucked up.....it is a personal choice peoplee to put drugs in our bodies dont blame promoters, or security, or the colesium, BLAME THE PARENTS!!!!!!!

No offense, but what sort of 15 y/o is gonna let their parents have access to their mobile phone?

As for the parents not caring.

I have extremely caring parents, who tried their very best to keep me away from taking drugs.

Needless to say there wasn't a chance in hell they could stop me.

Have you ever been a rebellious teenager yourself?

It's not only unethical for parents to monitor their childrens' locations via GPS, but it's certainly not any parent's responsibility to TRACK their fucking children. They're not rats, they're human beings.

I mean yes but if my phone was a tracking beacon and my parents all of a sudden whipped out a log where i have been i would seriously rethink where i wass hanging out. Just food for thought, i just dont think it is fair that 1 persons untimely misuse of drugs goes and has to ruin it for everyone else...........Go to pillreports and search my name on there, i would qualify as a rebelious child but at the same time im not stupid either.....

It happens all the time ive come tl terms with its socal we rave hard. Ive seen od's n they prob died happenws befors. Fact ofatter socal scene got too big, they used this one as excuse. Nereal socal raver knos this shit hsppens weekly. Fox, hudson, ravers ranch, la nat forest enough said.

How old are you? Have you never lied to your parents about your location or what you were doing the night before? Does that make your parent bad or you a liar - or is your choice to lie also their fault for bringing you up thinking lying is OK.

GPS tracking :D - that wouldn’t have stopped her would it? It would have shown the parents where she was but that would not have stopped her taking the pill that led to her death. Yeah you could say - but if she knew she was being tagged she wouldn’t have went, lets face it IF she wanted to go she would have left her phone at her friends house and went anyway.

You cannot keep your children under lock and key for fear of them making mistake or killing themselves - the simple fact is you raise them as best you can and hope that they are smart enough to make the right decisions when the time comes.

I'm old enough to know death more than likely bettter than 85% of people on this site..........parents bottom line.........

i heard from other news reports that the girl drank a water super fast that had a bunch of extacy in it which caused her death? is this false?

and my opinion is that thousands of underaged kids at edc were rolling and ended up fine and having a blast. half of those kids were probably lying about taking e or being at the event all together. what it comes down to is the girl was too irresponsible to handle the drug and the situation and it is the parents fault for not checking up on the age limit, keeping an eye out on her, and teaching her the way to go about certain situations.

i would bet anything that the girl has been in trouble for something like drugs or alchohal before by her parents..therefore the parents should have done their homework about the event and made the mature decision whether or not the environment of the event is ok for their daughter. if they did think all this out i guess they made the wrong choice.

tragic incident nontheless

I went to my first rave at 14 - took E and snorted ketamine.

A 40-year-old died that night.

Just the way the ball bounces.

So do you 'blame' your parents for you using drugs and do you think that every action a person does until they are classed as an adult is the 'fault' of the parent.

Surely you know that life doesnt work that way though - she was 15 and at the end of the day responsible for her own actions.

I think if you had kids then you would understand that you cant control them or watch over them 24 hours a day.

I do not understand this statement at all? What does your age have to do with being better at understanding death than 85% of us? I'm old enough to be the mother of most of the kids on PR, but what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

And why should her parents put a GPS enabled phone on her? Who says her parents could afford to put a GPS phone on her? You need to get real and stop blaming the parents. Put the blame where it belongs - on her (unfortunately) and the society that likes to pretend that drug use/abuse does not happen & that the DARE program actually works. 8)

check out what wikipedia has to say about edc 2010:

2010
Los Angeles

It is estimated that over 185,000 people attended LA's Electric Daisy Carnival over Friday and Saturday. The event drew criticism from local authorities after about 120 people were taken to the hospital by paramedics, and after a 15 year old, named Sasha Rodriguez, who attended EDC day 2, died a couple days later of an overdose. The city of Los Angeles began to consider banning all raves from being held in this city, but as far as the news travel there will be a hearing on July 14, 2010. Groups of ravers are already intending on forming a peaceful protest to show their love and appreciation for such events, and give the public and media an insight to the positive sides of this event.

i was juston there and for some reason searched edc... but wow its even on wikipedia is my point.

Wow, 15 years old, that is horrible to hear. In my opinion all these raves should be at least 18+ with ID strictly enforced. As much as I love raves, some of the things you see go on is sickening. It is not cool seeing 14 year olds rolling. It is just too damn easy for young kids to get their hands on drugs they shouldn't be touching. At the last one I went to I saw this girl who looked around 15-16 damn near about to pass out standing and her friends were around her just chuckling "you shouldn't have eaten 5".

I rofld so hard at the you shouldnt have eaten 5 part.

What stupid moron little kids
