So i've never done opiates before.
Recently acquired some 15/500 codeine/apap tablets.
Was waiting until i was actually in quite severe pain until i tried them (get awful migraines). So i could kill my pain efficiently and enjoy some sort of opiate warmth.
Yesterday, an awful migraine came around + i seized the opportunity to try codeine. After a CWE on 10 pills (150c/5grams apap) i necked it back with some OJ
After waiting... Waiting... + more Waiting... ---> I realised the codeine wasn't gonna hit me (though, i wasn't expecting much - i know opiates are subtle don't get me wrong) :s
My body definitely felt kindof fuzzy i guess - but my brain ripping headache was still as prevalent as ever. This was quite upsetting. I scarce take any painkillers for my migraines because i get transfer migraines the next day, so i thought the least the codeine would do was kill my headache.

About 3-4 hours after the experience however, in bed, i did feel really snug + cosy and soon fell asleep (even with the migraine?!). I woke up today feeling so refreshed + very slightly tingly - which i fucking loved <3 . So it wasn't all shit - + i'm not saying i wouldn't do it again.

But down to the point - does anyone have any opinion on what happened? In retrospect i'm thinking think my migraine may of been so bad as to mask almost the entire codeine high? i rly don't know.
Sorry if this is boring, but you've read it now. Too bad, call me a prick or something ;)

Cheers

i find opiates completely useless for migraines. I don't think codeine is particularly good at killing pain anyway. I'd go see a doctor about migraines if you haven't already, they do prescribe some sort of codeine/barbituate combo for migraines that is probably much more useful than codeine itself.

^wish id known that. I figured since i was rx'd them (8mg for my migraines 'migraleive') a good few years back they soothed headache pain.

I know plenty of people at my pain clinic taking opioids for migraines, not saying they work for everyone but opioids are RX'd for debilitating migraines pretty often, at least around here.

I think the best way for codeine to work is to expect absolutely nothing going in to it.

I am not a chemist but my 2 cents....Codeine is a pro-drug, meaning it is metabolised by the liver. Some people lack that enzyme to convert it into Morphine in effective amounts. I say this because my VERY FIRST time I ever used opiates was 180mg of Codeine, and I was literally shivering, almost drooling from the WAVES OF Euphoria, and I am not fucking exaggerating. I was making soft "Ohhh" "ohhh"sounds with each wave, like I was having sex or something.

I have heard of pain patients saying that they can't get high off their medication because of the pain, but this is contested info, basically a justification not to feel guilty because they feel good on the drugs. I can contest that you do get high, because I have used opiates for some bad pain (my own CWEs), it was the same shit.

What they mean is after using an opiate for so long they don't don't get high off their meds.

They pass the honeymoon phase and then it's like Tylenol.
