15 yr old dies from 1 tablet of ecstacy dealer charged with murder

Do you have a link or anything?
You didn't exactly put much effort into this thread, don't be surprised if it gets closed.

What can't you stand? The fact that someone died from taking an e pill?, or the fact that the dealer was charged with murder?, or something else entirely?

An electronics store security guard faces a murder charge after selling Ecstasy to a 15-year-old girl who died from the drug, Miami Beach police said Monday.

Christopher Rodriguez, 22, of Miami Lakes, was booked into Miami-Dade County Jail on Sunday, charged with first-degree murder.

''His punishment pales in comparison with the lifelong agony that her family will endure,'' Miami Beach Sgt. Robert Hernandez, a spokesman, said Monday.

Rodriguez was denied bail Monday afternoon.

According to police, Rodriguez met with the teenager and three or four of her friends Nov. 2 at the U-Gas station, 7950 W. 28th Ave. in Hialeah.

He sold them one tablet each for $14. Then he got back into his 2004 Chevrolet Impala and drove away, police said.

As the friends drove to Miami Beach, the girl swallowed a pill with orange juice.

Her friends later told police that she 'started to complain within 15 to 20 minutes after taking the tablet that she did not feel well. The victim stated, `Oh, my God, I feel sick, I want to kill this roll,' '' the arrest report said. ''Rolling'' is slang for taking Ecstasy.

The girl began ''to scratch herself on both of her legs and started to act very irrational,'' an arrest report said.

Two friends drove to a Walgreens drugstore, and one friend poured strawberry milk down the girl's throat. She threw it up. The girl grew pale. Her lips turned blue.

They drove her to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. Her heart stopped, one friend told police.

Emergency-room doctors revived the girl, but she was brain dead, the police report said.

Her two friends claimed they didn't know her but had found her on the beach. ''Both witnesses then fled from the hospital,'' the report said.

Five days later, doctors removed the 15-year-old from life support and she died. Her blood and urine tested positive for Ecstasy.

One of her friends began cooperating and gave detectives Rodriguez's cellphone number.

Detectives say that on Saturday he confessed, claiming he had just started selling the tablets ``for a few weeks to make some extra money.''

Rodriguez works at Circuit City as a security guard, police said.

I think it's terrible that this guy got charged with murder. At what point does personal responsibility factor into this(apparently never) 8) :\. No one forced her to eat the pill and no one forced her to buy it.

Did they do an autopsy on this girl, for all we know the oragne juice or the strawberry milk could've killed her? :\ So I guess they should charge the president of the milk company with murder, right? 8) ;)

Ecstasy doesn't really help define what's in the drug.
I know most of you know how flawed the term is now and it is NOT MDMA and just MDMA or--- even MDMA :)

Tis disgusting they always fail to see who's really responsible for the death. Although, giving kids drugs is rather immoral.

Tested positive for ECSTASY.... what the FCK does that mean. Sheesh.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever heard of any OD deaths where the cops chased down the dealer and charged them with murder. This girl's body chemistry must have had an adverse reaction to the MDMA, or other (not mentioned) personal factors were involved. I mean, the pill seems to have been clean judging by the urine/blood test, and her two friends were seemingly ok also...

In any case, this will not help X's reputation at all.

^ Right. How is it that her two friends are fine? I Know it doesn't specifically say that they took the pills as well, but it sure as hell implies it: "He sold them one tablet each for $14." So yea, it must have been the ECSTASY that KILLED her. FUCK OUTTA HERE!

Who knows if it tested positive for anything else, I feel horrible for the girls though. imo under no circumstances should anyone under 18 be dropping MDMA, they don't know the adverse side effects. This is why I'm extra paranoid about giving my first time user friends MDMA, I make sure they know what they are getting themselves into, and that they aren't on any other drugs at the time.

I think we can deny it as much as we want, but Ecstasy was at least a MAJOR contributing factor to the girls death. This is what carelessness does.

They poured strawberry milk down her throat? thats retarted. Somethign seems fishy about all of this. I cant believe the dumbass dealer confessed they would have had a nearly impossible time getting first degree murder to stick without a confession.

yea, something doesn't sound right here. and c'mon first degree murder? that's just too extreme. her being 15 is sooo not gonna help it either. i also wonder if her friends took it too. and what if he would've just given it to her? would he still face charges?

Eh, I call bullshit on alot of this. There's too much of the story that we aren't hearing. 1st degree murder REQUIRES intent or premeditation. Selling someone a pill expecting them to have a good time doesn't fulfill either of those requirements.

My guess is the tests will show Meth in the pill. There will be no MDMA or a very small amount. That and perhaps she was on some medication, perhaps a MAOI? :)

Why do you feel horrible for them? They know it's "bad" for them. Children smoke cigarettes and drink booze, fully aware of the harm. They simple don't give a shit nor worry about the consequences.
Perhaps PITY is what we should feel for dumbass kids (and adults to be fair).

This is a good article for the Darwin Awards. One less stupid kid.

whoever wrote this article is an idiot, hope there is more follow up to this so we can atleast know what happened exactly..

sounds like an allergic reaction but can't say that for sure I guess

basically saying she tested positive for ecstasy could mean anything these days

Wow this is just bad all around. Horrible for the girls family, sad for the dealer and bad for our culture overall. It didnt specify in the article, but as someone else said, I wonder if the other two friends dropped also.. and if they did it seemed like they ended up fine.

Sticky stuff all around..

I dont understand why the dealer admited it either.. Unless he was just guilt stricken.

tis' a true shame.

Its possible she was using an MAOI or MAOA and had recently taken her medication.

There are a heap of questions such as had she used before etc that we will never know the answers to.

Unfortubnately these things happen and it should serve as a warning to everyone to always test your pills and also to take every precaution possible.

You raise good points, however, it's not easy to get a teenage kid to do weeks or months of research and risk assessment before dropping a pill of ecstasy. If she was taking a MAOI she probably didn't feel it necessary to mention to a drug dealer what kind of other drugs she was taking. I am willing to bet alot of people out there think of Ecstasy as a completely safe drug.

I feel bad for her because she wasn't guilty for anything accept wanting to have some fun, I don't believe death was a fair sentance for a lapse in judgement (god knows we all have those from time to time)

I simply believe that the older you are the more you've experienced and the better suited you are to formulating your own opinions. Yes, this will draw alot of negative press towards Ecstasy, but is that honestly all you guys are thinking of? A 15 year old kid died, and that in itself is very sad. It's not as if she od'd off 60 pills, she was just trying E for the first time.

Besides there is evidence to suggest a small amount of people may be allergic or unable to metabolize MDMA properly that has nothing to do with MAOIs. Maybe she was one of these people, and it thats true, then its no ones fault.
