11-year-olds 'selling mephedrone to younger pupils'

ive been looking forward to a long and prosperous future of RC's but by the looks of this mephedrone stuff ive got no chance

^^^I the US I believe there is a sort of gray law that makes it illegal to have alcohol in a household with a resident under drinking age. I don't think anyone really gets in trouble for this, especially if there is not a problem, but that would probably make the child not at fault if s/he stole alcohol.

^ If someone has alcohol stolen by a minor, they obviously don't have any liability at all (they were the victim of a crime - they didn't offer it to the kid). There will never be a way to totally prevent kids from accessing drugs or alcohol, but I think legal restrictions would be far more effective than outright prohibition. At least there would be some regulations.

It's just wishful thinking. Instead of trying to prevent the inevitable, people must be prepared for it. Some 11 year olds are always going to steal cigarettes, booze, and drugs when they get a chance.

I wonder if the mail intentionally left the website address of their source in the picture in the article.

This is what happens when an industry isn't regulated properly.

I agree - the media industry needs tighter laws to prevent misinformation... ;)

Obviously this is all part of the move to criminalise mephedrone and other up-and-coming RCs / legal highs. I don't understand why the media and Government make it out that a 'new' substance can have one of two polarised statuses: completely legal with no regulation or totally illegal.

The current mephedrone situation has highlighted even more the desperate need we have for an entire overhaul of the drug laws in the this country. Unfortunately, before that can happen, there has to be changes in attitudes from the people who can make the decisions.

There are many options open to the Government that would allow drugs to exist in our society, but they are too stubborn and backwards to even consider them - oh, and too scared.
