11 days on Suboxone, WANT OFF!

My Sub doctor wants me to try Naltrexone which is similar to the one component in Suboxone. The same component that I truly feel is making me sick. He also wants me to take it only three days after my last Sub dose. After researching, it says taking Naltrexone too soon after Sub or any opiate can throw me into severe withdrawal. Actually recommends minimum of seven days. He is aware of this and still wants me to take it before bed Sunday when I must work Monday. I am terrified. He prescribed a shit ton of meds also in the event of severe withdrawal. I just really don't feel it is smart. I also cannot miss work for anything. I am just so discouraged. He did not give me another RX for Sub and I am completely out and cannot continue a taper. I am just so scared right now. How are you?

I wouldn't take the naltrexone (vivanse shot?) if I were you. What's wrong with tapering down on the sub? Have you been on it long? A rapid taper down from wherever you are now to a very low (<1mg/day) dose regiment might ease you off with minimal disomfort.

Also, if you're taking SUBOXONE (the strips) you might feel better switching to SUBUTEX (the tablets) if your doctor will let you or if you're willing to switch clinics. Some people seem to report that the naloxone combination in the former gives them discomfort.

Good luck. You can do it, and you have access to the best way.

Even with the taper, I don't feel well at all on Suboxone. But I absolutely hate withdrawal so I figured a taper is my best bet.

After telling my Sub Dr about my symptoms he feels I should dive into Naltrexone which at this point, I've decided against. He wants me to try Naltrexone before Subutex.

Considering I have no more Suboxone because he is pushing the Naltrexone after only being off Suboxone for three days, it looks as if cold turkey it is!

That is ridiculously stupid to suggest trying a completely different drug with known side effects, one that is also much less effective, when a simple, cheap preparation that eliminates a possible source of your problems is being discounted. Why I loath doctors when it comes to addiction and treating opioid withdrawal so much. They have their heads soooooooo far up their asses it pisses me off to no end. /rant

I agree 100%. Naltrexone is more so for alcoholism. A good friend of mine tried the injection and relapsed quickly. Cold turkey is it smh
