11:11 eleven eleven & reccuring numbers...

Don't be turned off by the first bit and the confusion with threes, keep reading after that. Everything the bungie write into their storyline is a goddamn seven! However, they are writing the story themselves, somewhat unlife real life, so are at liberty to insert as many synchronous sevens as they wish.
 
A few of the silly hippy kids here always notice 11:11 on the clocks around here(and act like its something special)...
Wow, wooptie doo, your eyes don't notice it most the time when its 11:19 or 11:10 or 10:32 because you don't want to notice it, and its not as visually arresting. The only time you look at the clock its 11:11? Comeon I look at shit in a room repeatedly and choose to focus in on certain things, could it not be that your mind doesn't snap into focus when it notices the symmetry of 11:11 or the repetition...
 
As the original poster of this thread many moons ago i feel I should say something:

I have actually stopped seeing 1111 as much as I used too but i still cant help but feel there is more than coincedance too it... read again this quote from my original post:

I was driving home from her house and looked at the time on my watch...you guessed it 11:11pm.... at that instance I pulled up at some traffic lights behind a car with the number plate [ 1.111 ] now totally spooked I keep driving and as I am driving a streetlight glares into my window and illuminates my phone in the passenger seat which almost blinds me and I look down and the time on my phone was 11:11........ oh... and this all happened on the 11th of November.... I also realised the next day that I had bought a ticket to a festival which cost $111.10. Thats 5 1111 occurences in one day...... tell me that is ccoincedence...

Now all you people who claim it is mere coincedance please do the math and tell me the probability of the above happening all in one day? While I dont really care what it is one way or the other I still think it is interesting to think about it. The time in my life when I was seeing 11:11 was also a turning point in my life when I decided to get off my arse and be happy with myself and my life. Maybe nothing to it... but just maybe there is...
 
Hmm. That's an interesting concept. I just looked down at my clock on my computer and it said 11:10. I guess I'm a minute off from being a "lightworker" or whatever you called it. Weird.
 
amazingly, five of the sixty four posts in this thread were posted at exactly 11:11. that is amazing!

well, it would be if they were, but they were not. none of them were posted at 11:11.

I notice number patterns.... it's an analytical math thing for me.

But, weird numbers for me are 9 and 13. Got married on september 13 (that was the only day available for the wedding at the church). My wife was born on 6/3/76 which add up to 6+3=9 / 7+6=13. I started racing this last year and my assigned muber was 319. The only two times I won at roulette the numbers were 19 and 31. The numbers 9+1+3=13.
Just some wierd numbers....... that is all

All I can say is the probability is >0, ie. it is possible. From that we can conclude that something possible happened to you.

If you had seen only four combinations of 1111 would it still be too many to just be a coincidence or where do you draw the line exactly?
 
Here is a test from Robert Anton Wilson's Prometheus Rising, that I did when I was in highschool.

Visualize a quarter. Really think about the quarter for a couple of minutes, how it looks, the feel and size of it. Now tell yourself that you are inventing this quarter. That it is yours, and yours alone. The actual visualization is important. Now, come back when you find a quarter.

( I found one the next day in the alley, and I never find quarters.)

Now visualize the same quarter. Same process of visualizing as last time, except this time, tell yourself that there are quarters everywhere, millions, and you are absolutley bound to find one eventually. Come back to when you find the quarter.

( I found a lone quarter 2 days later at the movie theatre, more likley I know, but still)

The point is, our mind might not create the quarter, but it creates the ability to see that quarter. When you start looking for these things, they are bound to be found.


This actually might be a little different from the book, and is without a doubt minus RAW's unbelievable wit.

Who came up with this theory? Did they just "know"?

Someone told me the same thing about the number 56 and I told him it was absurd. Did you not consider that the reason the time on your phone was 11.11 in quick succesion was because you looked at your phone twice in the space of a minute?

Edit, a few years late but my point still stands.
 
I dont mean to go against the grain, but whenever I look at clocks (lots of times each day) there seems to be no pattern at all. Not that I've tried to look for any...

While saying that, there were a lot of 23's in my life as a child.

<shrug> Just another point of view ;)
 
I used to work at Dominos Pizza with a bunch of stoners. At 4:20 on the clock we all used to call attention to it. After a while I was able to hit it right on the dot everyday. Why because it was brought to my attention, and then my brain/body was trained to knew when it was that time everyday. I've since left that job(4 years ago), but to this day I still just kinda "know" when its 4:20. Its not always 4:20 on the clock nearest me(the clock at Dominos was not perfectly in-synch with every other clock), but it will always be with in 2 mins either way. Point is you can be trained to notice certain numbers, and even to recognize certain times if called to your attention enough.

Upon doing some research on the net I found a plethora of information on the very subject... there are a number of theories, the two most common are:

people who see 11:11 or other reoccurring numbers are known as lightworkers, guides on earth to help mankind find the true path...I am not so keen on this idea as it is a little religious for my liking.

the other common theory (some theories overlap the two concepts aswell) is that 1111 or more correctly 4 straight lines in a row |||| is a symbol programed into us on a spiritual level by the universe. At heart we are all spiritual creatures beyond this flesh body, and the symbol is a reminder of that truth. Like a cosmic passcode to the spiritual realm. I like this concept and in part believe it, even if just to make myself happy. Whenever I see 1111 I am reminded of my spirituality and even if it is just acoincidencee I am happy for it.

Is there anyone else who experiences this or similar phenomenons? Any theories on what it could mean.... It happens far to often to becoincidencee...

kind of like how when i started smokeing weed i allways see 4:20. did you take into account the hundreds of other number that may have been the same as eachother that you had also seen throughout that day? id say ur almost surtainly just filtering out the other numbers because you have this idea that 11:11 is significant
 
nooo if you see 3:33 or 11:11 you have to stop and watch the timer until its 3:34 otherwise each time you dont do it, it subtracts 3hrs and 33 mins from your life or 11hrs and 11mins from your life. i read it in a book once or was that nothing
 
Thats happened to a friend of mine, it's just because you get really paranoid.
 
10:57 used to be my one. i had a thread in dark side about it.

i found that a concencerted effort to not think about it or realise it has helped greatly in not looking at the clock at 10:57.

Your mind has a powerful internal clock. I bet those who can look at a clock at 11:11 or whatever can usually tell the time (at any other point) with a pretty good accuracy.
