I think that if anybody is thinking about IVing their dope, they should take a step back from dope for a bit, maybe grab a suboxone or 2 to chill on, and then if they still want to IV it after a week of not using, then..... Basically what I'm getting at is most people make desperate decisions at desperate times, and they never would make those decisions if they were thinking clearly. From people selling their body, to stealing from their family, to pawning most of what they own, to shooting up in the hood because they can't wait til they get home. These decisions can all be traced back to dope, but more specifically IV dope. We've gone over this before how not everybody does this, but I'd bet my bottom bundle that most of the people that do this are IVing when they get to these points. A lot of it has to do with getting sick a lot quicker when you IV, so you need multiple fixes in a day, so those that IV their dope but don't get high everyday don't fall into that category as much as daily IV users. I have seen sniffers do some of those things too, but not at the same level.
It comes down to this... What good will come from IVing? The 'you will need less to get high' theory has basically been proven wrong since most people that have made the switch end up IVing more bags a day than they used to sniff since the body eliminates it faster, causing tolerance to skyrocket. So to those of you thinking of making the switch, what do you hope to gain from doing so? In regards to the rush, a lot of people say that the only thing feels good about it is that it relieves the withdrawals instantly, so if you're not sick, it's just getting you high quicker, while just feeling an odd tingling feeling throughout your body, and I guess you may "enjoy" the rush since if it's strong you know you're about to get really high. It's not worth it IME/IMO.
I've mentioned before that I have IV'd dope before, and I still prefer to snort it. It lasts so much longer snorting it, and the withdrawals stay away longer. I've gotten IV opiate rushes and I didn't like them, and the other times I IV'd it I only did a tiny bit like if I poured out a bag, sniffed a few lines, and then wasn't that high and figured the only way I was gonna get there was to bang the rest. It's still not worth it to me, and I still sniff, so IVing has been a random thing for me that's like a last resort, and the negatives don't outweigh the positives.
I never did it more than once a week because I know that the "I only had enough money for a bag, and the only way it will get me high is if I IV it" has been the way that a decent amount of people get into it. I've never IVd a full bag, only the last little line from a bag I had sniffed most of, but I did get the rush once and also from morphine twice in the hospital, and another rush when I IV'd 1mg of suboxone once, and it was very comparable to the IV rush from morphine IME.
My friend that does at least 4 bag shots has actually gone back to sniffing most of the time, and only IVs once a day after he gets out of work. He went back to sniffing because when he's at work he really can't IV it, and if he sniffs it before work he is straight for a lot longer and only has to do a bump here and there to keep from getting sick throughout the day.
I'm trying to give the most unbiased info I can since I have done dope every way except for smoking it. Also, trust me that I experienced real rushes. I was holding onto the arms of the chair when I got them and was blown away, but not in a way that I liked. I just found it to be annoying and wanted it to end right after it started. There have been plenty of times when I knew damn well that the 1 bag I had wasn't going to do much for me, and IVing it would have gotten me nice, but I knew that if I shot it I would be one step closer to going down the road that I have been avoiding all this time. Whenever I have been in a car with IV users and they see me sniff my dope, they all say that they wish they could still get high by sniffing a couple of bags. That always stuck out to me.
