Just took 10,000 mg of valerian root via 20 500mg pharmacy caps. anyways, other than the stomach ache i already have, what do you think I'll be feeling soon, if anything? I don't know if any of you have had experiences with high doses of valerian root...meh.
 
You must be pretty dry on drugs if you're taking 10g valerian!

I doubt many people have much experience with high dose valerian since it's a pretty boring drug, but wiki says: "Large doses may result in stomach ache, apathy, and a feeling of mental dullness or mild depression."

Sounds like a bad time. You can buy Kava otc and that's a lot of fun at high doses.
 
Yeah, valerian is one of those drugs that "does what it says on the tin" but not much more. It's basically non recreational.

Try kava kava if you want a buzz
 
actually. i'm kind of enjoying myself. feeling very mellow. possibly placebo but whatev. i do have a dull pain behind my right eye though. let's hope i didn't grow a valerian tumor.

and you're correct on being low on drugs. well...not including suboxone but i can't have any fun with suboxone, now can i...
 
What was your reason for taking that much?? I'm also curious to what effects this dosage will have on you. Please update this thread when you get a chance..
 
still here...the first feeling i got was that opiate feeling of heat in the extremities. then came a wave of tiredness. was never nodding out or anything but my eyelids just got really really heavy and the tiredness came in waves. it's a nice mellow experience so far. the pain in my eye is gone so that was probably nothing. and there really wasn't a reason...just bored i guess.

Nothing crazy ended up happening...I just passed the fuck out. Wouldn't say it was a ton of fun but it was definitely worth a try. My bowels feel fine. Gobbling down 20 of those capsules was a nightmare though, it tasted like shit.
 
^i wouldn't do it, there are a list of nasty side effects from taking too much all over the internet:
Insomnia, Diarrhea, Vivid dreams, Rash of the skin, Restlessness, Headache, Anxiety, Dry Mouth, Irritability, Fatigue, Upset stomach, Dizziness

i've taken high doses of valerian root before, can't quite remember the doses but would have been around 3-5 grams. Kind of felt benzo like, very light though. Tasted awful obviously and i wouldn't do it again.
 
Actually Valerian does work. I bought a pound of the root online and would take about 25-50 grams (swallowed with water) at a time. It felt like a more natural and probably stronger form of .25mg alprazolam, but with a hint of a serotonergic effect. I mean I could tell GABA was being affected. Its weaker than Kava, but somehow more pleasant in a way. In fact, I was taking about 50 grams per day for eight days, then abruptly stopped and experienced a withdrawal, complete with sweating, nightmares, feelings of doom, and heavy fatigue.

Valerian pills are notoriously weak, as are those of Kava. The pure substance, if taken in high enough amounts, will almost surely produce a noticeable effect, barring a too-high tolerance to drugs that bind to the benzodiazepine receptors.
 
damn...and i thought 10 grams was a lot. If I felt that from 10 grams then 25-50 must surely be off the hook. especially since mine were the infamous capsules.
