RedLeader - Only to non-friends. If you send to non-friends then there are 2 options - Free: But goes into the mystery 'Other' folder and the receiver doesn't get notified of the message. They have to actually go to the 'Other' folder. 2nd option: pay $1 and the message will be put in the other persons 'Inbox' and they'll get a notification of a new message.

I Googled it and apparently this new system is to stop random people spamming your account (not just to add to the shareholders dividends pot). Plus it helps to avoid crazy people sending you messages that aren't friends with you (kind of like me and what I did)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So if I send a friend-request to a person who might not be sure who I am, and that person wants to message me saying "do I know you?"...this message won't be delivered? That's just absurd.

No, it would be delivered to you, but will be put in your 'Others' folder (if your not friends). I don't think you can get the 'Others' folder on your phone (well I can't find it on my iPhone FB app). Have a look on the internet version on your Computer, click the 'Messages' button on the left hand side towards the top. On the left hand side above the messages / conversations, there are 2 headings 'Inbox' and 'Others'. Non-friend messages go into the 'Others' folder and the only warning you get of a new / unread message is a (1) next to the word 'Others'.

**I could be wrong if there is an open friend request between the two people.**
 
I'm glad you sent the friend request :)

I also noticed a ton of messages in my "other" folder. Hahah.
