Does anyone happen to know if 1-monoethyltryptamine is active?

It apparently is biosynthesized in a species of mistletoe, as yet I havent been able to determine which species.

Thanks.

It will get chewed up by MAO quicker than you can say 1-ethyltryptamine. The 'mono' doesn't make sense, the heterocyclic nitrogen of the indole, which is the 1-position, has only space for one substituent.

I'm curious about alpha-methyl-dimethyltryptamine? Probably active and orally without a maoi?

^^^^^^^^

The name of the molecule would actually be alpha,N,N-trimethyltryptamine (TMT). Most likely TMT has never been tasted by man, but its synthesis is mentioned in TIHKAL. Alpha-methyl-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine seemed to show signs of being active, so it is quite that the lower N,N-dimethylated homologue would also show some activity. Also, alpha,N-dimethyltryptamine showed MAOI activity (on par with alpha-methyltryptamine). This one may also.

The berries of Mistletoe (Loranthaceae) contain 1-ethyltryptamine (supposedly) .. is there any use for this stuff @ all?

I think mistletoe is poisonous, unless you know exactly what you are doing you should probably save it for Christmas.
