1/10 people receive a stimulating high from opiates?

when i do oxycodone i get a really good euphoria, and i could go clean my room and do a bunch of shit. take the bus to the store and pick up my groceries, etc. i would also love eating on oxycodone. i'd love eating a sub or something, and with every bite i'd take it would feel so euphoric.

when i do heroin i get sedated and nod out. i also cant eat at all when i'm on H, or else it comes back up. i'd say a lot of people get stimulation from oxycodone, and more of a sedated feeling from hydrocodone, although there are exceptions to everything and some prefer one over the other for stimulation etc.

opiates are very stimulating for me, hence my thread "opiate anger".

I dont feel any sedation on opiates, until it wears off, then im like aaaaaaaahggggg and i just wanna stare at a wall and drool all over myself.

Maybe alot of people experiencing stimulation on their darks are forgetting it's cus they smoked all there lights! lol

Well i know my Tramadol is pretty much a total stimulant with nodding if you take enough. My fioricet is kinda stimulant feeling but I think thats just because when you take a lot you get a lot of caffeine and for some reason the barbs and codeine doesn't seem to balence it.

I guess I'm a ten percenter. Opiates make me energized, motivated, enthusiastic, talkative, and positive. They also help cut through my social anxiety.

I love, love, love right when it kicks in. I think it feels amazing. Sadly, I have an extremely high tolerance, so I am afraid of the amount of vicodin I've been taking.

I must say though, Tylenol with codine does shit for me.

motivation and opiates

they do the same for me. I get energy for hours before being able to actually nod off.

Once upon a time, a doctor told me that 1 out of 10 people experience stimulation when on opiates. The other 9, rather than getting a speedy high, feel heavy sedation. For me, I can clean a house when on opiates, but most of my friends do indeed get rather tired. Was my doctor's claim legitimate? Based on the variety of people I know that do opiates, his estimate seems valid. Let me know your thoughts on this matter.

Try more like 1/5th of people (perhaps up to a third). I am a member of this group. I CANNOT sleep on opiates.

ebola

After doing opiates for almost 3 years now I personally have never got a stimulating high. My friend would pop some OC's and go on a cleaning spree all day and she would have all the energy in the world along with her mother.

Oxycodone for some reason seems to be the one that gives me the stimulating opiate high. I would always clean out my car, take the dog for walks, do homework, or have all the energy to go and do everything I saw that needed to get done. Heroin, Methadone, and Hydrocodone always seem to put me on the nod though, makes me more relaxed, apathetic and ready for sleep

I'm like that. Opiates keep me up. I feel nice but I could NEVER go to sleep on them. It sucked because I did oxy with my friend once and he passed the fuck out but I was still wired.

Its rather a complicated, and subjective thing. I'd say it's safe to say (when looking at morphine skelton narcotics), the 3-Omethyl ethers (that is, the codeines) will have a speedier effect than the more potent morphines. Also, having ketones elsewhere (instead of OH, alcohol) seems to be related to this. But other factors include in what pahse of addiction are you talking about. Sure, the 1st 6 months on opioids, the world is great, I lose all desire to drink alcohol, I lose weight, and get a ton of shit done. Then gradually the weight comes back, and the motivation dies off. Plus, some narcotics (aside from the differences in the corphine/codeine analogs, above) are just more speedy. Tramadol seems to be one such. Remember, thebaine (paramorphine), and oripavine (the basic skelton for powerful narcotics etorphione and DHE, can be speedy/toxic, just like strychnine, and induce convulsions. So can pethidine and tramadol even. Plus, you ever feel those little myoclonic twitches when your nodding? That's a form of stimulation, I'd say. You ever feel like parts of your lips and muscles are being pulled (like someone is controlling your facial musles)...it's actually a cool feeling.

So you see, there's so many factors, and I'm just pointing out some of my very limited knowledge (from how I understand it).

Yeah, they affect me like that, too. The only reason I have ever used benzos is to be able to sleep while taking opiates, and sometimes those didn't even work. It is especially noticeable now that I only do them occasionally, as I don't have much of a tolerance anymore. They wire me like cocaine or something. But hey, it's worth it! ;)

I guess I would say I am pretty stimulated when I take Opiates in general. If I take a lot of Morphine, I can nod if I sit still and watch tv, but if I get up, I will feel motivated and ready, not sedated and/or sluggish. Opioids like Oxycodone and Hydrocodone are extremely stimulating to me, and give me loads of energy. All Opiates/Opioids give me enthusiasm and motivation. Lack of O/O gives me demotivation and curbs my enthusiasm.:|

I get a wide range of effects. But bottom line... I just feel GOOD. I nod off and all, but then I get this phoenix rising situation... I get up, still high as shit, and decide all is well in the world-embrace my lack of any aches and pains-and get anything and everything done... with a great fucking attitude to boot. :)

Codeine based= stimulative
Morphine based= sedative

At least this has been my experience.

I think you mean thebaine based, not codeine based. Oxy and hydro are derived from thebaine, despite their suffix. Thebaine is the most stimulating alkaloid in the opium poppy plant.

I guess the high may feel different from oxy which feels a bit cleaner/sharper, i nod harder on H , but for me I wouldn't go as far to say stimulated. I'm glad it doesn't feel stimulating for me, i wouln't want it any other way :)

I agree with the OP. IMO it's that stimulation that seperates physical addicts from the severely mental (and physical addicts)

For example, when I do opiates, I feel like my friends do when they do coke. I want to get everything done in the world at once, whereas my friends want to sit and nod. I've always thought this meant that my body was more mentally dependent on the drug then the avg user.

Good thread btw, I've mentioned this phenomenon myself to other people but never had anyone take it seriously.

When i first started opiates, i couldn't sleep for shit. It was not until i had developed a small tolerance that they actually gave me the best night sleep imaginable. I've never seen a drug whose effects went from one extreme to the other.
