I'm going through something similar right now I've been trying to reach my longtime friend (who has been struggling with addiction since I've known him) for like 2 weeks now. I'll be inconsolable if my friend is gone while I'm in another state about to move back by him. I'm trying to stay positive though, like I said sometimes he just goes to Europe on a whim to visit family.
