Been gone for a good two weeks or so, while in the field working... And now upon my return, this thread has come to a discussion about constapation and opiates, and fibers this and fibers that, and alternative remedies such as an aenima... and I'm sure there are a lot of different ways to go about it.
I tried using S_A_F_I (an Indian homeopathic medicine that essentially is a product that has arisen from the ayurveda field of science/knowledge/history). It seemed to work, and I followed the suggested dosage and cure for IBS or constipation, which was 2 teaspoonfuls a day for 10 days. And since that time some many months ago, while I was still on heroin daily, I have been using it as a supplement on and off...
Other than that linseeds are another good alternative, that also deserves some testing by trial and error and so on... I use linseed oil and S_A_F_I in my smoothies these days (but mind you, I am not entirely sure what it is about linseeds that help with the motion in the ocean down in the intestines, but a quick Google and Wikipedia search should point in the direction of some relevant articles as far as I remember).
The problem with S_A_F_I is that there have been reports of high arsenic content, but I think that the manufacturers have adjusted the product after these indications were published, but not too sure, so do some research before you start using it daily, especially if it was just placebo that I experienced. But then again, thousands of years of ayurvedic practice has led to some wonderful discoveries and remedies, and I'm all about using natural products, rather than pharmaceutical, as much as possible.
S_A_F_I is marketed as a blood purifier, and contains extracts from a shitload (excuse the pun) of different useful plants. It should be available in any standard Pakistani or Indian store/supermarket in most parts of the world, as it is used by most Indian families as a natural remedy against a wide range of symptoms. But I think the modern generation of westernised Indians and Pakistanis are slowly starting to think that it is bullshit, but I have a faint belief that it actually works wonders for many things.
Hope everyone on the opiate roller coaster had a good shit today. I had a somewhat good shit, but the majority reminded me of a pile of dry goat shit pellets, just a little bigger.
Too much info? Suck it up

P.S. S_A_F_I doesn't contain the underscores between the letters, but I just don't want this post showing up on Google when people search for info about the product. BoardReader, for example, is really efficient at finding posts here on BL, and usually they pop up somewhere within the first range of search results, and I don't want to mislead people looking into the remedy. Especially if they are not interested in drugs and so on...
