Hello fellows bluelighters,

Tonight i told my mum i smoke weed, being from the UK this is probably a bigger thing than in USA... She doesn't know anything about it and just believes the lies she is fed by the powerful people of the world! She initially panicked and was worried about it but i managed to calm her down to the point she said she doesn't mind me doing it once or twice a week as long as i cut down my drinking. I have some weird emotion in me right now and i don't quite know what it is... It isn't very nice tho!

I said to help me and her talk about this and be on the same page i'd organize a totally unbiased presentation to give to her tomorrow, in the hope that she 100% understands it and is in fact supportive of this wonderful drug.


What I'd love from you guys is any useful sources you can think,have read in the past or have used yourself for this same reason ... You can either post them or PM me them if they are links to other sites etc...

^A good article In my opinion except for the reference to "skunk" which isnt helpful. I'm pretty sure that every commercial grower in the UK isnt cloning Skunk #1 continually. I'm pretty sure that UK smokers dont call all high grade weed skunk either just the media, correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont know how much you're drinking or if you are serious about cutting down but there is a alcoholism support thread over in "The Dark Side" sub forum of Bluelight. It seems your mum is probably unlikely to be supportive of you using but perhaps she will tolerate it and maybe correct some of the views portrayed in the media with a bit of thought and research.

Some things I can let you know about my experiences smoking cannabis heavily in my youth (daily use for 5 years) is that after a while it became unpleasant and I had to steer clear of it for quite a long time before I could benefit from its effects again. I probably wouldnt have listened if someone had told me that back then but looking back it would have been a lot better if I had stuck to occaisional use. Not saying it happens to everyone but its something to bear in mind.

you could get a vape so its not bad for you so she cant say shit also go to drug policy.org everythings factual and show her the facts
 
also you could just compare the pros and cons of alcohal vs marajuana plus i would bring up the fact thats its used medicinally

Hydro, around here, is short for the method it was grown. Hydroponically. It has no weight to it's potency, but usually will be headies - top grade.

I stand corrected. In Australia its usually only called that if the grower has planted skunk or superskunk seeds or clones. It was pretty common in the 90s but havent heard much of it recently.

I thought Profossor Nutt would use different terminology but if thats the most common slang term fair enough...
 
Also the most common term over here is "Hydro". Because most commercial growers use hydroponics and high THC strains. There is also a lot of outdoor "Bushies "around in the season. Thats pretty much the extent of categorization here unless you are speaking to a grower or someone close to them when you might get strain info.

yepp! hydro usually means indoor dank, beautiful, frosty strains :D

Just last week I admitted to some of the drugs I've done to my mother and I even told her about the crazy experiences I've been through. Not everything but enough and suprisingly she didn't even yell or get mad. I also finally told her that I'm going to continue smoking weed no matter what....she already knew that I did but I just decided to tell her nothing is ever going to change my opinion on doing so. I just told her that I still have goals/dreams and I'm going to still be able to accomplish them even if I smoke marijuana. I just gave her examples of kids she knows that I've hungout with (ones she didn't like and I didn't either) and was like those kids had no motivation or priorities even before they started smoking weed.... I also basically been telling her all the facts about marijuana and how it helps with my depression.
I also even told her do you want me smoking cigarettes or weed and she obviously rather have me smoking marijuana. My mom use to smoke when she was younger but she grew out of that phase awhile ago so convincing her to allow me to smoke marijuana has been a struggle but after numerous times of talking to her about it and its positives she finally seems okay with it. Yeah, she doesn't like me smoking at home but other than that it seems all good. All I can advise you is to talk it out with your mom but don't bomb her with all this information at once because it will go in one ear and out the other. Good luck!!

Nah man your right, good stuff was called skunk in the 90s and early 00s round here when my older sister started. Now its "chronic" and "cheese" or we just say that it's peng. This is middle class southern boys talking though :)
 
listen to your mother. she is right; you are probably too immature to balance your life with drugs involved. you have enough balls to juggle being a teenager, and adding another one to the mix won't do you any good. maybe it seems like a good idea at the time, but in the long run irresponsible drug-use is definitely not worth the risks.
