xanax + codeine question

hey guys, just a quick question about mixing xanax and codeine. i have done a search and yes it seems safe, but i just had a few more specific questions...

ok first off, i hadnt taken xanax in months but got my hands on some, and the last couple days iv been having 1mg xanax with about 4 shots of scotch. today i want to up to 2 mg. i wanted to know if it was safe to throw some codeine into this mix. as for the codeine, i have a slight tolerance, take about 160mg to feel somewhat "high". i have some 30mg/500mg codeine:paracetamol pills, as well as around 10-15 mls left of 25ml/5ml codeine syrup. what would be the best way to take these in a safe way (btw, CWE is out of the question). any help would be appreciated :) also can alcohol be thrown in at all?
 
It will be sweet candy it seems. If you are tolerant to both and have the knowledge, I'd say try a lower dose of both mixed and work your way up.

Take half of both and wait 30 minutes, if you feel like you can handle more codeine, try it out. You really don't need to go anywhere on the xanax... IMHO
 
Hi apples, this is probably a bit late, sorry..

Codeine, xanax and alcohol are all CNS depressants and potentiate each other, so you have to be very careful combining them or they'll knock you on your ass (or worse, especially with stronger opioids). It is sensible to take a much smaller dose than you usually would, and I wouldn't recommend combining all 3..

If a CWE is out of the question, you can't take many codeine-paracetamol pills. The daily max in 24 hours is 4g paracetamol, but that's supposed to be spread out over the day. In a single dose I wouldn't be happy with more than 2g really, ideally it is only supposed to be 1g - and throwing alcohol into the mix makes things worse for your liver too. Paracetamol overdose is very bad for your liver and can be fatal, so be careful please!

The other problem is alcohol + xanax impairs your judgement a lot and can lead to taking far more than you intend to of everything..
 
I don't know where you thought it said this was safe, mixing three CNS depressants is never a good idea. And if you refuse to CWE your codeine then I wouldn't suggest drinking on that much acetaminophen. I'm sure many people have survived from similar situations, but I wouldn't recommend it. Be safe. Don't want to go into respiratory arrest, or fuck your liver up.
 
thanks guys, i ended up dropping out the codeine and just crushing & swallowing 2mg xanax and having drinks. was a very nice buzz! drank around 6-7 drinks was in a very good spot. decided its just not worth it to throw in the codeine, i barely feel codeine these days...just hanging to try some oxycodone, only had it in hospital...

It should be safe. I've taken doses of 5mg Xanax combined with upwards of 200mg codeine. But to err on the side of caution, take your usual 160mg codeine with no more than 2mg of Xanax. As for the alcohol, well I really wouldn't advise throwing in a third CNS depressant. I mean a couple of shots of scotch should be okay, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Furthermore, alcohol potentiates the effects of benzos and also detracts from the opiate high. (Well, that's what I've found from my past experiences.)
