Phenibut, Picamillon and L-Theanine For Anxiety.

What's up everyone.

Lately I've been feeling really lethargic and fatigued, as well as mentally foggy. I had a REALLY bad cold for a couple months, and it's now the 3rd month since getting it and I still feel terribly exhausted constantly. I wake up every day and feel like going back to bed, until I do so later that night. I have gotten blood tests done, and everything is apparently in check, so now I'm doing some intense supplement shopping to hopefully get me feeling healthy again. I have already purchased Protein powder and Multivitamins, and eat as healthy as I can manage.

In the meantime though (not that I wouldn't already be doing them), I rely on stimulants pretty heavily, being Coffee and occasionally Dexamphetamine, for studying and getting daily chores done. Even while taking/on them, I still feel exhausted most of the time, and with doses high enough to make me feel temporarily functional, I commonly get anxiety along with it (uncomfortable, distractive and counter-productive). So here's what I'm thinking...
  • Phenibut - Some brief research tells me that this is the most powerful of the listed, and is similar, but different to Picamillon. Apparently tolerance builds quite quickly with regular use and it can lose a lot of it's effect.
  • Picamillon - As I read, Picamillon is said to work similar to Phenibut, with a lot of people claiming that it has a different feeling however. A lot more reports of this "not working" though...
  • L-Theanine - L-Theanine sounds promising, so I'll probably end up buying it unless people convince me out of it. I'd love to know what everyone thinks about it in comparison to other effective supplements, or even prescription medications.
  • L-Glutamine - I believe this is a precursor to GABA, when combined with something else... Hopefully someone can elaborate.

These are purely for anxiety, by the way. To counter the jitteryness and anxiety I get from drinking Coffee and taking Dexamphetamine, and soon PMAA. I don't expect them to rival prescription Benzodiazepines in effect, as I already get prescribed Valium that I don't take, due to my already low energy, and the powerful sedative effects.

Please offer your opinions, experiences and even suggestions/additions. P.S, I know this could probably fit well into the Supplement/Nutrition thread in the Healthy Living section, but topics get lost and confusing, not to mention barely noticed within that combined thread these types of discussions get moved to.

I'll reply properly later when I get back from work, on lunch break at the moment, just wanted to say that I love the formatting of your post :) Looks very good, I am impressed.

Those supplements do looks like they have potential for helping with anxiety.

You say you drink a lot of coffee, have you thought that his could be exacerbating your anxiety somewhat and drinking less coffee could be as good as adding in another chemical?

I think there is a definite argument for "Better living through chemistry" but I it does seem like you are on a lot of different chemicals, it would be hard to judge whether the new ones that you are considering will help or hinder, or have interactions with each other.

As I said earlier though, I will read your thread again a bit later and come back with a more informed answer :)

The only one I have experience with is phenibut. Did work well for anxiety, for like a day, but it takes forever to kick in (several hours) and I found I mild at best. Tolerance builds insanely fast IME. Long lasting though (all day, and I slept well too..) Can't remember what dose I tried, sorry.. next time I had it I had some alcohol later in the day and felt really rough. Doesn't mix well with other GABAergics! Easy to become physically dependent on, and WDs are no joke (as with most GABAergics).

No idea about the others sorry!

Thank you for the compliments! I tried to keep it tidy to entice people to actually take it seriously. Don't feel pressured to reply either, whenever you have the spare time is great for me! :)

I do have an anxiety disorder, but I mostly just deal with it without medication. It's nothing that greatly changes my lifestyle (although restricts my use of most drugs, which can increase it ). Coffee is definitely worse for my anxiety than Dexamphetamine, but I still drink it for a couple of reasons. I love the taste, I wont deny, and it is sort-of effective at waking me up and giving me energy. I think I just thoroughly enjoy the relaxation of taking the time to drink a Coffee, and then feel a bit jittery later on in the day, usually after 3+ double shots. This ties in with Dexamphetamine, which I try to reserve ONLY for studying, to help reduce both tolerance and negative effects, plus it leaves me with a surplus if I want to have some fun or stay up on the weekends. Making Coffee my staple stimulant, it's hard to remove it, and Dexamphetamine isn't itself that much of an issue above all. Feeling as constantly exhausted and mentally foggy as I do, I basically wont make it further than the toilet when I wake up in the morning/afternoon, without some sort of stimulant that is. I've summed it up to some sort of Post-Viral-Chronic-Fatigue, and I can honestly say I was NOT reliant on stimulants (or anything) in any sort of noticeable way before I got the devils-flu (made up but accurate name ;)). :(

I desire some low-key, preferably non-addictive and non-toxic supplements, that will reduce anxiety in the hopes of making me not only, less anxious, but as well as indirectly increase my focus, as anxiety tends to make my thoughts race. Those were the best I could find during my research, but I'm sure there's other solutions people know of. I wouldn't mix them either, at least unlikely. L-Theanine seems like the most sensible choice, but Phenybut sounds like the most effective for a once off every now and then. I have always noticed that Green Tea (which contains L-Theanine) gives me a zoned-in, relaxed and awake feeling. Maybe the combination of Caffeine and L-Theanine? The idea of L-Glutamine would be to help provide for natural GABA production, but I'm uninformed and skeptical at this current time.

Thank you for the personal input! You've basically stated what I feared. Tolerance is developed quickly, and withdrawals are all too real. I have a feeling that if I took this once in a while, it would be excellent, but I don't have money to waste for a year or two's temporary supply...

I've taken phenibut. Now this is just my experience, as a lot of people truly consider this a god-send.

But I tried it at recommended doses, and it did nothing for me. So now I take a huge amount, like 7 grams...and after a few hours I feel mildly nauseous, and mild relief from anxiety/social anxiety, but nothing spectacular, or even good for that matter. I am almost out of my phenibut and I won't be buying more when it is gone.

The other supplementS you mentioned do spark my interest, and I look forward to any input anyone has on them.

Good luck on finding something that works for you!

Phenibut is a GABA-B Agonist, similar to GHB in ways, but it 'lacks' the euphoria of GHB/GBL, and Phenibut takes forever to kick-in just like effie said. Be careful with this shit though, as I have taken some big doses at once, and a few hours later was violently puking with my eyes so dilated and feeling really kind of fucked up but not in a good way, and the effects not wearing off for about at least 18 hours or so.
2g is a good dose to go with for Phenibut, keep in mind, that Phenibut takes about 2-3 hrs to kick in.
