ok I'm desperately asking around about what the difference is between JANSSEN cilag and matrix duragesic patch. I'm dependent on the JANSSEN cilag brand because I like the taste. Can any one tell me the difference on these please

there are some threads about the different patches in OD. maybe in the OD Directory.

this feels like a location specific issue. is jassen a worldwide brand?

Janssen Cilag made the Durogesic patch(in Europe), Duragesic(America), the one with the gel. Now Janssen makes the matrix style patch. It still called Durogesic (in Europe). I think there are other brands, which make either gel or matrix style. When you say for the taste, i suppose that you mean the gel-ones..

this, and they're marketed under Durogesic world wide. JC have discontinued the gel reservoir patches, they're no longer available on the market under any brand/generic and have been discontinued for close to a couple of years. the polymer matrix patches (durogesic and the other generics) are what's on the market now.

if you find the gel reservoir they're going to be remaining stock from when they were still being produced and marketed.

what the difference is between JANSSEN cilag and matrix duragesic patch.

this doesn't really make sense because the jansen's are the matrix durOgesics. from my experience of being scripted fentanyl patches, australia doesn't have a generic equivalent so you're going to get the JC brand durogesic.

Ok the JANSSEN cilag brand don't actually say the words matrix on Thier packaging but the sticker that printed out by chemist with your name and name of the drug the one that is placed on the box or bottle of your medication the word matrix does appear, the JANSSEN cilag brand that I use is as thin or thinner then a piece of paper resembles clear sticky tape. From what I understand this GEL patch you speak of must be a few milimeters thick The reason I come to this deduction is because I read threads of people squeezing out the gel and with the thin sticky tape type patch I use there is no way you could squeeze it to require anything. It would be like squeezing sticky tape, so I'm guessing JANSSEN CILAG version MUST BE matrix just as the sticker reads that is printed out ( I didn't see the sticker because I usually throw out the box soon as I get it). So as there is being a new brand introduced into Australia it must be matrix (I'm saying it must be matrix because Australia would always take the less abusable version)

I'm on very good terms with my chemist hence the reason I found out about the patch being swapped brands before I had to get them

the matrix version were introduced into australia around 2008-9 iirc, when i was first prescribed them. they're not by any means new to the market.

the gel reservoir were available in australia before they introduced the polymer matrix. they were still rolling them (gel reservoir) out until stocks ran out and the matrix were exclusively available.

if you're doubting this, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
