Lemon-tek vs digestive enzymes?

What's up guys,

Got a question I've been wondering about after reading through a few controversial lemon-tek threads. There's the whole "broken down by the liver argument", but I read a lot of arguments for and against it. Onto my question.

Aside from the lemon-tek, am I off base in thinking that ingesting some type of digestive enzyme (eg. papaya digestive enzyme) prior to taking a dose of mushrooms would have a similar effect to lemon juice method? If I'm off can someone explain to me where my thought process went astray. I'm intrigued by psychedelics and would love to further understand how they work themselves into our bodies.

Thanks amigos,

Beating a dead horse, but acid works fine.

Papain (in papaya) is a peptidase - breaking down some protiens - not an esterase, which breaks down esters.

Try pseudocholinesterase.

Thanks for responding Sekio, I was actually reading a lot of your responses before I posted this and wanted some clarity. I'll check out the link.

End of thread? (answered)

I mean I love the topic, but threads love a future you know? ;)

Neither of them will have any real effect, but if you BELIEVE that lemon and enzymes will work then you'll notice them working.

I think pretty much the only advantage that the Lemon Tek has is that it makes sure all the alkaloids are in solution when you drink them.

Ismene is right (for the oral route) - neither acid nor enzymes really matter because by the time psilocybin hits gastric acid it is converted to psilocin. Likewise for 4-AcO-DMT to psilocin. (That's a hypothesis, but it would be unwise to make the assumption that an acetyl ester won't hydrolyze as easily as a phosphoryl ester) - compare the rapid conversion of heroin to 6-MAM in vitro.

Thanks for all the responses amigos,

Hopefully we can all come to a definitive conclusion soon.

lol, i love you guys arguing over the lemon-tek (ismene & friends)
many chuckles over the last week :D

the recurrence of this idea, and the strong-support on the side of it's true efficacy, does make me wonder...i'd try it out, but i don't trip very often anymore, so it'd be hard to give anywhere near an objective analysis. seeing as though i haven't tripped on mushrooms in a while as is... :( guess it's up to you guys.

i definitley saw a trend in the last thread or two....quite a few people who've tried it had something fairly pronounced to speak of....and....those who are speaking in purely chemical/biological terms seem to denounce the idea. maybe one of you lemon-tekkers should become versed in advanced chemistry, and find the missing link of understanding...or maybe Ismene should get some lemons in his life lol :D

someone needs to cross the yin-yang boundary.
