Hi Guys,

Recently been to the docs for deppersion and anxiety as my citaolpram was not working he has now put me on Mitazapine took one last night tottally knocked me out lol and made me eat non stop lol. I also take Tramadol ( self prescribed) is there any danger in taking these 2 meds together? as i read on a drug interaction side that i shouldn't take them 2 togeter because it can induce serotonin sysndrome but I also read on another site that Mitazapine can reduce the chances of serotonin syndrome so not sure, any ideas???

Also have anyone got any stories or experineces about Mitazapine they can share?

Thanks guys

I was also prescribed Citalopram for about 6 weks at 20mg a day which didnt help at all so my doc moved me onto Sertraline 100mg per day as she said it was particulary good for anxiety.

What i do know is that Mirtazapine is known to increase anxiety! it also helps people get to sleep and gain weight.

Good luck because the Sertraline isnt helping hardly at all.

Made my dearialisation much worse, felt like the worst bit of coming up on acid, definitely made me tired as well, wasn't on it long enough to know of it helped with the depression / anxiety due to the severity of the side effects

Just made relax and get to sleep, but along with those effects came ridiculous munchies. When I took 30 mg before going to bed one night alongside a few bowls of medical marijuana i noticed a strange, dream-like state that did not come from that strain of weed alone

tramadol antagonizes serotonin receptors causing involuntary firing of neurons which increases the amount of serotonin in the synapse, while mirtazapine acts as an indirect agonist by indirectly activating 5HT cell firing by the alpha-1 adrenoceptor thus raising extracellular 5HT levels. a probable result from the combination of drugs would be serotonin syndrome.

mirtazapine can reduce the likelihood of serotonin syndrome when combined with SSRIs, but tramadol is a serotonin releasing agent (SRA) and not a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. on the other hand, mirtazapine has no affinity to bind to serotonin, dopamine, or norepinephrine receptors, nor does it have the ability to induce/inhibit any other enzyme for that matter making it rather safe to combine with most drugs besides serotonergic drugs

however, the most dangerous interaction between the two is the blockade of 5HT-2c receptors, which is known to cause the seizure threshold to plummet. conscious tonic-clonic seizures are not fun, trust me...

I was on Mirtazapine for about a month.

It was almost instant in effect, Slept well, ate well, felt up in the day.
Sorry can't remember the dosage, thinks it was 15mg at night.

I hated cipralex, done shit all except made me worse.
