hi guys im planning on giving a friend 10mg of methadose and he is used to taking 10mg methadone pill, in my opinion i dont think they're equal strength even though they appear to be, in my experience taking 10mg of the liquid is not equal to 10mg pill, is this all in my head?

10mg should indeed be equal to 10mg, although the liquid will probably kick in quicker and harder, but its still 10mg.

I've never used the liquid formulation of methadone, however.

It always seemed to me that the pills were stronger than the liquid. They take longer to kick-in but are worth the wait IMO.

What makes you believe that 10mg of methadone in liquid form, would be any different than 10mg of methadone in pill form? Methadone = methadone = methadone.. The only difference is the rate in which is gets absorbed but the dose is still the same.. Now liuquid methadone has different concentrations, such as 1mg/mL, 10mg/mL, etc.. So as long as you accurately measure out 10mg of methadone liquid based on the concentratino, the effects should be identical to a 10mg pill. I was on high dose of methadone for a long time and have noticed absolutely NO difference between the liquid, the pills, the wafers, etc.

It's all in your head.

i agree with brokedownpalace any drug is the same if it's brand or generic liquid or pill the only difference between taking liquid and a pill is the liquid should hit you slightly faster

the liquid always gets stuck to my spoon or measuring cup so i always feel i take less than i intend too!

Be careful, it sounds like your friend is fairly opiate naive?

Methadone takes a LONG time to fully kick in...don't redose him for at least 3 if he is complaining about not feeling it. Methadone is no joke, that shit is more dangerous than heroin.

I'm sure it is due to my metabolism or something like that. When I used to go to the clinic, I'd skip days sometimes because I hate waking up early, and I'd always get the pills. An equal dose of the pills would usually result in a better "buzz." I know what you're saying, but there are many factors at work besides the amount of mgs in the pills/liquid. Everyone's body is different. Other people I know say the same thing as me, that the pills work better than the liquid for some strange reason.

I'm not the only one that thinks the pills are better than the liquid.

I believe clinics can either have liquid methadone and/or liquid methadose. There are two clinics in my area. The one I am at now distributes methadose and the other one in the area distributes methadone. People seem to pick the one I'm at because they say the like one better than the other. But I have heard both sides. But I'm sure one is a little different in strength and/or feeling but I bet not by much. I just know one is a little bit cheaper.

I've taken both with a H habit, and both while on maintenance and never noticed a difference. I preferred the liquid as its easier to take larger doses of, and generally much cheaper.
Also, clinics can only dispense liquid or "wafer" style methadone for maintenance. Doctors in a non-clinic setting (pain MGT or hospital) can only prescribe methadone pills (5 or 10mg) for pain. That's why it's next to impossible to get a doc to RX a script for 'done cause it draws interest in that they might be prescribing it for maintenance.
And don't ever give more than 5 or 10mg to someone with low/no tolerance. You will OD them. I've seen it.

what is methadone si O-sol ?

the si o-sol is a silicon compound.

Improved structural properties of SiO2 sol-gel films

Silicon oxide films with a small amount of alpha alumina particles embedded in the glass matrix were prepared using the sol-gel method. It is found that the structural properties of these samples are superior to those observed in similarly prepared films, but without the alumina particles. This conclusion was deduced from analysis of the oxygen diffusion measurements through the SiO2 layer, using a novel method, and from the measured dielectric breakdown field. It is found that the oxygen diffusion coefficient is much lower and the dielectric breakdown field is larger in samples with the alumina particles. © 1999 American Institute of Physics.

also dilution of methadose differs from place to place though is generally 1mg/ml

For just 10mg dosage, even if it's 2mg short, it's not going to be a huge difference.

It would be a larger difference to take 100mg and only be getting 80mg. This is a more significant difference.

So even if there is a slight change in potency I'd reckon they'll both get the user close to where they want to be.

When I went to the methadone clinic I would always pay the extra dollar for the wafers. I know it's all the same, but in pill form I always knew exactly what I was getting. IME, the liquid would take effect faster, but the pills would last a little longer. That being said, it's probably different for everyone.

At my clinic they have both liquid and wafers, the wafers are only for people who have been there like forever and get a months worth at a time. I smoke pot so i have to go 6 days a week, getting a sunday takeaway on sunday, but i would love to get the wafers instead. everyone i talk to tells me the wafers feel stronger, ive only had them like once and that was in rehab a long ass time ago so i dont really remember them. My clinic has cheap ass liquid methadone, its qualitest or some shit, cherry flavor and the 110 i take feels like the 90 i was given when i was on free maint sponsored by NIDA from a drug study i did (came with 6 months free methadone and a detox) The one 90mg dose there would keep me well all day and actually give me a decent nod feeling, by the ime i was on the bus crossing west bmore i would be feeling it strongly, so like 15 mins. This shit im on now doesnt peak for hours, i know it has a long halflife and thus a long peak, but for being 20mgs more than the last time i was on MMT its pretty weak. In the summer when it was really hot if i worked out or was sweating too much i would practically wake up the next morning feeling like shit because it had worn off so quick.

So i can see why the pills would feel stronger than the liquid, 10mg is 10mg but the way it gets absorbed into your system is going to make them feel different.

well a couple weeks ago this dumbass new nurse fucking just put juice in my cup and didnt put the methadone in it, and i didnt look at it just drank it down. being that it tasted completely sweet and not bitterness at all I told them that she forgot to put it in but since i drank it already they said there was no way to prove it so i was screwed. Luckily I can also get the white 10 mg methadone pills which are scored on one side and on the other have numbers i think like 54 over 124 or some shti like that. So my dose of the cherry red methadose is 160mg and I took 16 of the pills so it was an equivalent dose and it felt exactly the same, the only thing was it took longer to kick in, which i think ended up making it last a little longer too. overall I like the liquid better being that its exactly the same and swallowing 16 pills sucked real bad.

affasd,

I heard about that happening to someone at my clinic. And they didn't notice it apparently until later in the day when they were starting to feel worse instead of feeling better. So they called up to the clinic to try and figure it out and the nurse admitted to remembering not filling the cup with the methadone dose and only filling it with the kool-aid. They couldn't do anything about it but say sorry. Sucks.

But man, that has me so paranoid now to where I always have to make sure. That would just ruin my whole day and next morning.

yea it fucking sucked, luckily I was able to get those pills but i know we cant say prices but I had to waste a lot of money to get the 160mg which is what my daily dose is.

I watched my nurse intently every time. When you're sick and wasting your morning, you don't take your eye off of it. Always made sure she pushed the handle on the methadone jar and enough came out. I thought I was just being paranoid. Mostly, just making sure I got the correct dose, or atleast not getting 10 when I should get 60. I never even thought that she would just forget to add the methadone completely.
