Sometimes when i hit my favorite vein, im a lefty and i have a huge one on my left hand that wraps aroud my arm. Any how when ever i hit it i always make sure im in. The as im pushing the plunger i always double check and make sure bloods pouring in. Now do you think it could be leaking beacuse i used this vein in diffrent spots, instead of going from top to bottem to avoid leaking. It really only happens when im hitting the spot farther up. Btw these veins are not small i am 6'2 230 lbs. The ones on my hand are the easiest to hit and i never got a track mark and ibe been iving for a few years now. I am also dark skin italian decent. It definatly helps for the track marks!

Ps i am using nyc china white. Using new rig and fresh water.

Your veins don't "leak" the way you are talking about. You can work your way up stream or down stream it doesn't matter. The vein it's self seals within a matter of minutes During the shot it can leak though, if you are injecting and blood is leaking out around the needle under your skin, then you can bet the farm there will be fluid leaking with the blood. These are the leaks we talk about most. It can happen other ways, like poking a hole in the bottom of the vein in the process of injecting. I don't understand what makes you think you are missing though. You will have a small lump at any injection site. What symptoms of a missed shot are you experiencing?

ive register many times before injected and missed... Dont know what thats about;; its possible that after registering any small movement while or righ before injecting it cna easily slip out

I don't know the odds of this happening often, but if the needle tip is only partially thru the vein wall, you'd be able to register but half the hole in the tip will still be outside the vein, thus when you push the plunger down some solution will go into the vein, and some will miss.. It has hapened to me before, and sucks since there isn't much you can do to make this known before hand, other than stopping and re-positioning if there is ANY sort of stinging/pain that you can notice.

Don't go top to bottom on veins. Start away from your heart and work towards it.

To avoid what Bdp is talking about, I register, then push another 1-2mm, re-register, and go, then re-register @50units left and @25 units left, repositioning as needed.

to be honest I find it easier to register once, and then hold very still and plunge, visually watching as I inject. I have 12% BF so it is very easy for me to visually see if it isn't 100% in the vein.

Even with a 100 unit shot, I find one register sufficient when I can visually see everything is going well.

After having injected long enough, I begin to feel when the solution is going in the vein correctly, so you can feel it too.

I should have clarified that I only do that if it doesn't *feel* perfect. counting the empty boxes of syringes... I have probably given myself 6-800 injections in the past 6 months, so I'm definitely getting good, but still not an expert.

They say you need to do something for 10,000 hours to become an expert. that's like 100,000+ shots. (hopefully I never get there)

That's essentially the way phlebotomists are taught to prevent what BDP mentioned :)

Hahaha oh I am probably getting close...

i think i might have already surpassed that :(. man it's been two years since i've browsed bluelight, I think I shall make a return.

As far as the OP is concerned, BrokedownPalace basically hit it on the money. You can get a register and then accidentally move your hand just the SLIGHTEST amount, be poking through the vein wall just barely and it will still feel like a normal shot. (as far as any pain or discomfort are concerned) || and a few other people have mentioned the best thing that you can really do -- practice, practice, practice. good luck in the future.
