Heroin fueling crime

So that girl they mentioned first in the article went from trying Oxy for the first time at 16 to being dirty disgusting sewer dwelling stereotypical junkie to recovering addict all by 17? That's awful fucking fast in my experience. You don't usually go from just trying pain pills to being a heroin addict willing to pawn everything and steal from anyone in under a year. She went through the cycle of addiction and recovery mighty fuckin' fast lol.

if she can stay off, she should be fine, since her run was limited to 1-2 years. i think duration becomes more important when you use daily for a long time, especially for things like PAWs.

^ I dunno man it's not that unheard of. Doogie Howser was a doctor at 16.

What does that have to do with what I said?

What I said was less about her age than it was the fact that they said she was 16 when she first tried Oxycodone and was a recovering addict by 17, so the longest she could have been using was 1 year and more likely she was only a heroin addict for about 6-8 months, which might as well be a week when compared to many peoples addictions, ya know? I mean it's nothing to scoff at and I'm sure it was difficult to quit, but they made it out like she was a grimy addict willing to lie, cheat or steal in order to get her next fix and from what I've seen, it usually takes people a little longer than 6-8 months to get to that point. Heroin addiction can strike at any age and people can be full blown addicts by 16, but I was commenting on the length of the addiction itself, not her age. You get what I meant now?

Oxys at 16, drug degradation at 17, rehab poster child at 18. American girls are fast. In 3 years, the little darling can buy a drink. That ought to take care of her till she's 24. Hope she's not bored to burnout by the time she's 30.

Heroin doesn't cause crime. Criminalisation does. In my younger days, I was as dishonest as the next man but never broke the law until I found dope. As a street heroin addict, I boosted £2000 worth of stuff every week for years. I finally qualified for a legal heroin prescription under UK guidelines and the offending behaviour stopped overnight, never to be renewed.

So much of the drug prohibition laws are based on a suspect morality. Drugs, particularly heroin, are somehow diabolical. The addict or those who'd liberalise policy are hellhounds, best kept in max security for life. Otherwise they'll infect decent, godfearing folk.

Take a wild guess where the fashion for draconian prison sentences, where heroin dealers may expect more time than a murderer, originated? That's right. The home of the snake handlers, the land of multinationals. Instead of challenging those responsible for their second rate lives, US plebs are encouraged to snitch a junkie now they may no longer kick a niggah. 3rd world nations do as they're told or lose that all-important 'aid'. So the prisons of 5 continents now overflow with 'drug criminals'.

Fundamentalists and conservatives warn of dire consequences if drugs are decriminalised. Has nobody looked around? The consequences of this insane prohibition are pretty awful, wouldn't you say? Hard to see how things can get worse, save possibly for billionaire narcotrafficantes, contracr prison shareholders or 'rehabilitation counsellors'. Maybe they'll turn to crime, poetically.

This is the only part of this article I liked, this should be a fuckin federal law. I didn't realize 2 states were already doing it, but like they said, it seems pretty common sense. Keep cops from responding to OD's with the full intention of lockin somebody up.

I completely agree. So many people overdose and die because the people they're with are scared to go to jail. SO many lives would be saved if it was a federal law. One of my best friends died in 2006 because this idiot that was with him didn't want to get in trouble. He was left in a Burger King bathroom to die alone..and that's exactly what happened. :(

I dont know man, even if heroin was legal people still need money to get their dope. Maybe the answer is to void money, the root of all evil.

If insulin was illegal I bet there would be some desperate diabetics out there doing whatever they had to do to stay alive.

Im not a cigarette smoker & I hope no one gets mad with what im about to type but I wish they made cigarettes illegal. What do you think all these politicians, lawyers, cops, etc, etc......would do to smoke a cigarette? Thats right, they would break the law every day.
