For the last few months or so ive been taking doses of 50-100 mgs of codiene daily for about a week, and then taking a week off straight. Im wondering if this will ensure there is no dependency issues? Recently i've had a flu, and on the weeks off codiene i've been feeling pretty bad. This is likely nothing more than a coincidence but im not sure. If this cycle is continued am i going to start experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms or are the breaks and relatively low dosage enough to prevent this.

u'r not addicted dont worry
u havnt been taking enough to have any w/d
u'll hve more w/d from quitting drinkng a few cups of tea a day

i quite regualy take 400mg codeine & i get very minimal w/d if any. its barely noticable
u have nothing to worry about

even if u were taking higher amounts u wouldnt get w/d from the habbit u've described

codeine is a prettty weak opiate. the effects are subtle & so are the w/d unless u use it in large amounts regually.

even if u do get w/d try buying some otc phenergan (promethazine) teh sedating antihistamine to help u sleep.

Yeah i was just a bit paranoid my 7 days on 7 days off cycle might get be dependent which is the last thing i need. Don't plan on doing this for much longer. So hopefully you are right.

Contribution much appreciated. Cheers.

Physical dependency shouldn't be your worry... if you take something regularly enough though you'll likely start wanting it more. When that week off starts feeling longer, when you start wanting it more and start thinking about it when you don't have it and when you start cheating and taking more/taking it sooner... that's when you have to worry.

The point where you need to worry is when your use starts negatively affecting you and you keep using despite this... what sucks is through denial and rationalization, many blind themselves to this until it's too late. If someone is sliding down that road into addiction, trying to schedule their use won't prevent that. Either you can control your use or you can't.

Thats the thing. I can absolutely adhere to that schedule. With stimulants i cant help myself. Same with benzos. But for whatever reason i can control my opiate intake. i very rarely exceed 100 mg of codiene and i never go over my 7 day period i assign myself.

^ that's great and for some it's sustainable and for others they can control their use until... They can't.

Few people go from 0 to addict in a matter of seconds and most addicts used in a responsible and controlled manner at some point. I'm not saying you'll become addicted, just to not let your success thus far give you a false sense of security so you start pushing it to see how much use you can still control.

I remember the days when 50mgs of Codeine would give me a euphoric & warm blanket high, it was awesome. You should cherish these days that you can still do it with this low of a dose.

Yeah think ill take a long break atm. Im scared of any kind of dependency these days.

Very wise :)

I'm going to close this now, but send me a pm if you disagree. Good luck!
