It's come to my attention that most people claim this is a waste of benzos, however it seems that clonazapam has some very decent effects when taken via the nose. Has anyone else experienced this?

no, but i believe it. things get exaggerated. the flat point is really just that there a not significant advantages to snorting benzos, say like there are with the -morphones, so users feel it is not worth the health risks and hassle.

Clonazepam is a waste snorted, the effects that you will be getting are most likely first of all placebo, and second of all the drip from it going into your stomach.

There are not many benzos that are actually suitable for snorting, I know that midazolam is because it is water soluble, but most benzos are not so are not really effective when snorting them.

This thread in other drugs has some more discussion about insufflating benzos, it might be of more help to you.

benzo-insufflation-thread!

Any gain you think you're getting from snorting a benzo is just that, a psychological gain. A placebo. Just eat the things. A lot of benzos are formulated (lorazepam, clonazepam, alprazolam come to mind off the top of my head) to be sublingually administered. If you can't wait, stick it in under your tongue.

I don't know why people think something must be water soluble to be absorbed by the mucous membranes in the nasal passage. The few milligrammes of whichever benzo you snort will definitely get absorbed, and the rest will most likely find its way into your stomach in a matter of minutes. The only advantage you're going to notice is a more rapid onset; there is no rush. The only downside is that less of the drug might be getting absorbed.

I use Ativan once in a while & just let it melt under my tongue, it gets me where I wanna be. I hate snorting pills, I snorted once which was last weekend & that is the last time.

At the risk of being ridiculed, I'm going to say that I've been doing xanax for 10 years and snorting it works. I'm a real addict; placebos don't work for me because I'm physically dependent. It works. There's a lot of contradictory science floating around on BL, but that's another discussion that needs to be delved into some time because we're a community of people who will eventually be the "go to" guys for accurate information by large populations of drug users. It's a problem that needs to be addressed.

^No worries man, its a legit question and a legit concern. Take lorazepam, for example, its oral BA its around 90% and its intranasal is 72%. They're pretty close in the grand scheme of things, so snorting it will produce an effect and that effect will probably come on faster than the oral route. This thread may be of interest to you, but to each their own. I personally believe that, esp. at lower doses, you're just wasting drugs for the sake of a possibly quicker onset.

Right on. The rapid onset of insufflating the clonazapam is very noticeable and certainly not placebo, however the long-term effects are MUCH weaker than orally/sub lingually administered. I'd say it's a waste, but It's a fun waste for about 10 seconds :)

I think further discussion of the benefits of insufflating benzos, based on the BA and whether or not it is water soluble and all the other factors that have been raised in this thread are a bit beyond BDD. So I think I am going to close this but leave this mini chart taken from a thread that NT referenced earlier to show that yes you may get some positive effects from snorting benzos, but if you look at the oral BA for most of them then it is really not worth it.

From Bioavailability/Half-life MEGA Thread
