No. not ROA, MOA - method of action. But you kind of explained what you meant - there's no pharmacological interactions, just (somewhat :)) potentiating effects.

^alcohol effects the metabolism of codeine in a very specific way. inhibits and/or delays. which may or may not be a good thing, because some of the codeine metabolizes into morphine. but maybe it could make the high last longer. i've read a bunch of journal articles trying to figure out when would be the best point in time (e.g. right before, an hour into, etc.) to drink in order to stretch out the positive feeling of codeine--if it is even possible. but i couldn't understand their charts. privately run experiments confirmed my hypothesis that alcohol makes codeine feel better anytime. but i don't know about making it last longer.

of course in the name of HR, gotta mention that combining two CNS depressants like alcohol and codeine is dangerous because it increases the chance of fatal respiratory depression. ADD told me so...

Hmm, interesting. I obviously knew that there is symptomatic interactions but wasn't aware of pharmacological ones. If you're able to find those articles I'll be very interested in reading them! :) Possibly PM them to me?

Thanks buddy!

do you happen to have any promethazine or quinidine in your possession? you want to induce your 2D6 enzymes to maximize the amount of morphine metabolized from the ingested codeine. or you could indirectly increase the amount of morphine by clogging the 3A4 enzymes with 100% all natural white grapefruit juice. tagamet isn't too good of an option because it will occupy needed 2D6 enzymes for processing.

(side note)
unlike oxycodone, hydrocodone's and codeine's effectiveness rely on their major metabolites mechanism of action. usually, the pro-drug is O-desmethylated through 2D6 into a more potent parent drug (hydromorphone or morphine in this case).

i would take 30mgs hydrocodone + 10mgs promethazine over 30mgs oxycodone + 10mgs promethazine

this person is no longer a bluelighter.

tyrael, google "codeine" "ethanol" and "metabolism" together. but you can only read the abstracts that way. if you're a student, you can probably get access to them through your university.
