Voxy and L2R. Congrats to you both, they are both very cute boys. :)

How's everyone else going? Looks like it's been a bit quiet here lately. I'm 35 weeks now and looking like a balloon is permanently stuck on the belly now, also concerned that the baby could very well come any time from now but I'm hoping she cooks for awhile longer yet. Thankfully though I have now finished moving house, and the cot is in our bedroom for now, just need to wash the sheets tomorrow to put on the cot and voila the baby has somewhere to sleep. Also the car capsule arrives on Monday and the pram is arriving from the US in about a week or so. Plus we have the change table, clothes washed etc etc..

The only bad thing really is that I have a sore point on my belly and the hospital could not find out what was wrong (baby was monitored and she's all good), so now I can't sleep on my right side at all, and getting out of bed / some chairs can be a bit painful. Not to mention when the baby decides to move around that area. Pain in the ass but what can you do? :)

thanks and wow, peks. the real business end of things. she'll be here before you know it! very exciting time.

sad time for me, wife and boy flew off two nights ago... for three whole months .:(

for mothers to be, as far as I have been reading folic acid is only good in the first trimester of pregnancy, later on high doses can lead to problems. Verify all this of course. But just a heads up, I know a few here are pregnant.

I've read that, too, L2R. As you may imagine, I've read EVERYTHING about SIDS. Thing is, there is research to support co-sleeping as well, with a sober, attentive, breastfeeding mother. As with so many things, you can read whichever studies you agree with. In the end, I'm following my intuition. Babies cry so much less! That's gotta be right, right? And toddlers don't have nightmares, or fear the dark.....I know it's not for everyone, or maybe even most people, but it feels right to us.

Just curious....who provides the education about SIDS to prospective parents? There's gotta be a reason they only present one side of the issue.

I know they are working on a test for SIDS, meaning to screen out those with higher risk. There seems to be a genetic link and from my understanding most cases can't really be prevented. But maybe in the future we will know which kids are more prone. I slept with my kid until she was 6-7 months old and now she can't sleep with us, won't fall asleep and just keep climbing like a mountain goat. It was much easier sleeping with her and i woke up to the tiniest noise and movement from her. It all worked out at the end, well the end of the first year at least.

Another thing is car chair sleeping, can be fatal (small percentage of course) mostly for younger babies. It mostly happens on long car rides so take your kid out for a break every hour or so just to be safe, which you should anyways;) and never let your child sleep in a car seat if it is not in a car, especially newborns.

One last thing, I found a really good ointment for rashes called Tormentiol. It's not available in the stores/pharmacies of the USofA but EU definitely, can be ordered online, compounded at a us pharmacy would probably cost like 100 for a tiny tube. Has zink oxide 20mg plus 3 herbs that really heal the area. It actually works really well. You never know when you'll need it. I just had to use at almost 1 year old for a horrible rosecia(sp?) like rush and its getting better w/i days. Nothing else was helping and it was spreading. It's like 25% better already after 2/3 of a day.

Why is that? Is it because of blot clots forming in their legs from being below their body for so long? Just a guess. :P

No, it's because the shape of a car sear facilitates a chin-to-chest position, which narrows air passages. Babies should never be chin-to-chest. Not in a car seat, a carrier or sling, in arms, anywhere.

Miss Peks, I'm :) right now thinking of how awesome it's gonna be for you when you get to hold your baby girl! The last month can seem like for-EV-er.....then, poof! All gone.....and you have your little one, and it's the most amazing thing! <3

^yes it is. seriously, you and gegs are gonna produce fkn stunners, man.

Excellent! How are you? Excited? Scared? Got gender preferences? Tell! Tell! New babies are my current DOC! =D

I LOVE being a mom! I love everything about taking care of my baby. I don't mind when he wakes up at night, because it's time I get to spend with him. He's changing so fast, and I don't want to miss a second of it!

Caring for a baby feels so IMPORTANT. It really matters. Raising children is a tiny piece of influence on the world and how it goes. If I can successfully raise well adjusted, competent, and respectful people, they will influence those around them, and so on.....Nothing else I've ever done matters this much. It feels powerful, beautiful. I am....serene.

Hahaha! Oh man! Is it wrong to demand pics...? ;) Actually yeah i think it is! =D

Hmmmm........there were these 2 days, just after my baby was born, that I was a bleepin' H cup. The ol' man ravaged that photo op, as it will surely never happen again....now I'm having wicked little thoughts about posting in the nudie thread......=D
