Hi guys, i have been on pain relief meds for over a year now due to ill health and constantly being in pain. I have been taking codeine phosphate for over a year and its a great pain relief and also gives a nice fluffy feeling aswell which is nice when you are feeling unwell 24/7, the problem is that it has got to the point were i need in excess of 400 mg a day for pain relief and also feeling nice so last week a friend of a friend sold me some green meth liquid which he said is great for the pain and will also make me feel nice. I was naive about methadone as i have never had it before and didnt realise hw strong and dangerous it can be, i am aware of how addictive it can be but after my codeine script runs out im paying ridiculous money for more as my GP can only prescribe so much controlled substance anyway so i figured it was cheaper to buy the meth . I took 45mg on saturday which was a high dose which was great pain relief but did make me feel a bit dodgy no sickness just spinny and wired i got no sleep until the next morning as if i been on e's or something, then on sunday i took a 10ml dose 24 hours after my first dose which took the pains away but didnt give the same euphoric effect as before so then on monday i took 20ml dose 24 hours after my 10ml dose and felt ok, then this evening i took 20 ml's again and feel fine, no pains and a bit fluffy, i am just happy to not be in pain anymore as the codiene stopped working due to tolerance and tramadol just made me sick to my stomach, so the questions i have are is it ok to keep re dosing every 24 hours at 20ml or maybe 30ml, how long does tolearnce to meth take to start, when are the chance of OD less and has my body got a level with the meth now i have took it 4 days in a row plus does this mean that my body can deal with it and it will be safe to continue using it for pain relief, any advice and info would be very much appreciated,
cheers

Methadone is just another opiate. It's much stronger than codiene - you should definitely be careful. You have already built a tolerance to methadone, and if you keep going, soon your codeine won't work anymore, and then when you run out of mrthandone, you're in withdrawals...

Don't rely on illegaly bought drugs to control your pain. I would consult your doctor. You should be treating the cause of your pain and not masking it with opiate drugs.

From what you've described thus far, it is my opinion that you do not need something on the level of Methadone for your pain. The side effects far outweigh any benefit you may get from it.

If codeine in any amount was enough to diminish your pain to your satisfaction, then I would say the most logical next step would be to Hydrocodone(Vicodin) or low-dose oxycodone(most likely in the form of Percocet).

Methadone for pain relief is usually used as a last resort so to speak an I'm assuming you know of it's most common us as a maintenance drug for those looking to abstain from Heroin or other opiate/opioids.

It is a very long acting and potent opioid. Since it has such a long half-life, withdrawal from Methadone does not last 3-10 days as most shorter acting drugs. Acute withdrawal symptoms can last weeks if not months an PAWS(post acute withdrawal syndrome) can last upwards of 6 months in some patients. PAWS consists of severe depression, insomnia, anxiety among others.

If you honestly feel that your condition warrants the use of Methadone and it's side effect profile, then I say go for it. Othrwise, try a less potent, shorter acting drug that would better suit your needs.

He doesn't need menthadone and would hate to see him gett addicted to that. He has been a short term user and moderate qualities. My suggestion is for you to take your medicine for pain and don't fall into tje problem 90% of of opiod users which it turns recreational.

I was writing I. This other thread as I had not done oxy in 10 days nt during those 10 days I was taking only 10/325 norco 100 mg per day and ran out Monday (I saved 4 norcos for emergency)

so I am up writing asking for suggestion and
I quit oxy 30 mg ir blue pills 60-90 mg per day up the nose and it seemed to me that the 4th and 5th days of wd is when it.... Hahaha my oxy guy just texted me and wants to know if I want some. Anyway the first couple days were not that bad at all but day 4 and 5 hit pretty hard. Didn't get out of bed, wanted to sleep but couldn't, tense midsection rls etc. That's when I wish I had some Xanax. Because the next time I actually quit I had 4-5 2 mg bars that helped a lot. And I quit for 2 weeks felt great proud of mysefl but 2 weeks later just like now my boy texted me and I thought let's just use it for pain and no recreational buzz but fail. Now my boy is textng me back while I'm writing this telling me he will front a bunch of my 30oxy and Xanax bars. Arcggggg. I'm gonna Dinah writing this and head over to his house now!! Frig frig frig. My bday is Thursday and I gotta coach my competitive girls soccer tjeam on a travel tournament. I've been worrying that wd are goig to kick in tomorrow from stopping 10/325 norcos 100 mg a day for the last ten days. I'll be right back guys

Ok I'm back and told him I only need 30 pills to taper off. So since I haven't been doing oxy in 10 days+ so 1 pill per day for 5 days then 1/2 a pill for 5 days and put the rest away for when the pain really needs medication.

Wish me luck. FYI. The crystal meth I held onto for a month worked really well today as today was my first day without any opiate. I did a little line at 9am and the day flew by and I took the kids swimming but I hate how long it makes you stay up. I mean it's 1:30am here and I did that line at 9am. I am normally asleep by midnight. Needless to say I do not like crystal but it worked today for me. I will not do any more for another month when I am completely quiting all drugs even my good ole pal Mary Jane. How long will this glass looking crystal stay good. A year?

I have had some amazing experinces in my life from partying with evander holyfield to coaching our girls team to the norcal state cup semifinalz. I have seen the darkest wides of life as well and for that I am greatful.

I'm hitting the sack and will keep you posted as I ween off and live out the second half of my life for my family and kids and learn to be selfless rather than selfish. Have good intentions, impact someones life and don't be afraid of venturing to either the light or darkside. Makes you well rounded
Oh shit cheaters is on tv right now. Lol
peace

the problem i have is that codeine has stopped working unless a take 400mg + and my doctor wants to lower my dose due to addiction and high tolerance i have. I cant get oxy or hydrocodene in the uk from ne of my sources just codeine and methadone and methadone is far cheaper than me buying extra codeine on top of my prescription every week, also the pain relief from the meth is really good i have numerous underlined health problems which require numerous other med's and im in a lot of pain daily and also the feeling it gives me is really nice because having several hours of being in no pain and feeling very nice beats being in agony and feeling really rough!i just wondered what a safe dose would be to take to get maximum effects , i have taken 45mg day 1, 10 ml day 2, 20ml day 3, 15 ml day 4, and each dose except the first has been ok mas i took a bit to much with the first dose although the past 2 doses didnt give as much of a nice feeling as the 2 previous more just pain relief which is good but if i can feel good for a while and be in no pain may aswell kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

Yes i have an addiction to codeien which is at 400mg + a day to get pain relief anf feel good, thats the thing with opitaes you take them for pain and when you are constantly ill and in pain the added nice effects from them is a bonus because feeling a bit high in no pain beats being in pain and feelin really rough anyday so i shall continue using meth as its cheaper to buy a 200ml bottle of this a week than get my codiene script from my doctor and then spend extra cash buying more codiene on top of that i am aware of how addictive meth is i am just going to be taking moderate doses to take the pains away and cause a bi of a high and from reading info i gather that its when you take ridiculous doses that it becomes really addictive and you get a greater tolerance , if i stay at 20ml - 30ml doses daily then it will take a lot more time to build up tolerance than if i was taking say 50ml - 60ml a day? and you mentioned that you are on oxycodone, i never heard of these until the other day as we dont get them in the UK which sounds a shame becuase they sound like the best pain killer available, are they available over the counter were you are and nline or are they just prescription drugs?

i can feel good for a while and be in no pain may aswell kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

Sorry, this kind of thinking is going to make your life a living hell much later when you have to taper off methadone. Especially if it's not legally prescribed to you.

This is a harm reduction forum, we can't advocate you switching from codeine to methadone. I suggest you talk to your doctor, or at least think very hard about the future of your drug usage - what happens when the methadone stops working, which it will? What do you switch to then, fentanyl? And what after that?

Yes i get what you are saying, i understand it can be a slippery slope but with sensible doses could it not do good? My doctor wants to reduce my codeine dose which is probably a good thing as im taking so much to get the effects from it and since starting the meth i havent actually had any codeine so thought this was also a positive effect from it? Its really nice not to be in pain and also feel half human as aposed to in agony and feeling really unwell, i have health problems which reuqire strict regime of meds daily and am finding that on top of these the meth is helping not only with the pain but to lessen my other meds side effects and also make me feel good for a while so i think its a win win but do get that it is a bad drug and i need to sit and try and think rationally about wether its for the best to continue taking it or worth finding a pain relief that isnt addictive and will work to its maximum whichs hard because all strong pain relief has a chance for addiction , thanks for the advice though its really appreciated i will take it on board when deciding what the right steps will be in managing my health and pains and i think a chat with my doctr is in order,
cheers

If you're in the UK the next logical step would be (df118) dihydrocodeine imo. I had it for post operative pain and found it highly effective for pain and "comfort" and their were no withdrawals or anything when my scripts ran out a month later. Just my 2 cents.
