Misc DEADLINE APPROACHING - Apply to mod OD Today!

I've a bottle of eszopiclone that I've never tried before, think I'm going to pop one in a bit and see what happens!

I have. Thats why I'm taking eszopiclone rather than racemic zopiclone. Eszopiclone (as the dextrorotary stereoisomer of zopiclone) is both effective at lower doses and does not share the carcinogenic properties of its racemic mixture.. While they seem to similar (and even seem identical to some) stereoisomers often behave in manners entirely different from one another. One of the most interesting and important components of organic chemistry.

I'm prescribed temazepam as well, but seeing as 90mg of it gives me little more than slightly unsteady gait, it hasn't proved to be the best sleep aid for me :)

The eszopiclone was prescribed along the way, moving up the chain of prescription meds for insomnia and I simply never used it because I changed doctors and started a different medication. Trying it out for kicks mostly, curious about its effects as a cyclopyrrolone and its effectiveness compared to other non-benzodiazepines in the imidazopyridine class (such as zolpidem) which I have tried with little success.

Wow interesting!

Have you tried loprazolam?

It is great that eszopiclone is more effective than zolpidem for you, :) I will stick to temazepam for sleep (although I only take it rarely).
 
curious if there is a certain amount of posts and or amount of time you need to be online a day?
 
^ there isn't a set minimum or anything like that but time on the site and amount of contributions are looked at... alongside many other factors. The content of your contributions, how active you are in the forum, if you've been helping out by reporting posts that violate the guidelines and of course the application where you explain why you'd be a good fit and what you'd bring to the table are all very important.

With a busy forum like other drugs, it really helps to be able to check in frequently, even if for short periods of time. Some forums here can be moderated by one person coming on for an hour or so a day but in OD it's good to have the mods checking in more regularly but it's certainly not the ONLY criteria.

Relatively new members who had outstanding applications have certainly been brought on in the past but admittedly it's harder to do so versus someone who we know really well through their posts and/or communication with them.

If you're really interested in becoming a mod though don't let anything above stop you from applying. A lot of mods, smods and admin applied multiple times before being selected. I applied 3x before I was made a moderator. When you apply we get to know you a bit and you stand out, we'll notice how you post more, if you help out 'memberating' (reporting posts, letting newer members know if they break the rules, etc.) and it will greatly improve your chances in future selections.

For those who haven't been regulars in OD for a long time - our recent selection processes were roughly (this is from memory so I might be a bit off)...

-dec 2010 (2 brought on)

So on average we bring on a new mod (sometimes more) about every 4 months or so. This doesn't mean our staff turnover is that high but sometimes mods change positions on staff, those who mod multiple forums may decide to concentrate on another forum and of course people do step down at times.

thanks man figure i mine as well try at least get the foot in the door i know CH knows me but tommyboy and jonnyblue know me more than most i would say so idk if this would be the right place for me or not
 
i'm still affiliated with OD as an SMod after stepping down when i did, cane and dokomo are still afilliated (not sure how much longer as i think phrozen will stay on as official admin, perhaps another addition) while being bumped up to admin, and will continue to stick around i'm sure, and that leaves amapola (stepping down as mod but) as the other SMod so really none of the more recent mods have "left". we're just bringing in new blood. cane mentioned some of the things we take into consideration when choosing new mods but don't let one turn down shun you away altogether.

mod turn over can be a good and bad thing. i'm positive OD is and will be in capable hands for some time.
 
I'm staying on as OD admin and dokomo joined me. Cane got fed up of all the harassment and left, although 60% of his sig is still dedicated to OD. :D

I'm still technically an OD moderator. Once I'm not, then my sig will be links to my anti-OD offshoot site.
