Hi, I am not sure if this the right place to put this but here goes. I want to know how to store amt long term?(Going to have doses put in gelatin caps). protect from exposure of oxygen, light and heat.

hi, icekila. i am going to send this over to psychedlic discussion because i believe amt is a psych.

icekila , This information is Direct from one of the Vendors. I asked one before

Hey,

AlphaMethylTryptamine should keep for many months if stored in a dark drawer, in a ziplock bag and covered from the sun.

stored it for many months in a dark cupboard sealed in a bag with no loss in potency.

i heard its quite unstable though i have never had a problem with it at all.

Never had a problem with mine either. I have some in the freezer and some in roomtemp. Dark, dry and cool are keywords here, as with most trypts. Obviously it needs to be well sealed also. :)

any tips on protecting from the elements?

I wouldn't leave it somewhere where it could be exposed to the elements. Best to keep it stashed in a dark drawer, freezer, or an air-tight container kept out of the light.

personally id also keep it away from the elements to protect the elements. perhaps its just me but amt smells very distinctly and powerfully. it is a smell that is hard to get rid of, and can be a sticky smell (in that it remains on hands or objects used to manipulate it)

had mine for around 1yr and it still feels as potent as it did then (stored in a dry cool dark place, at room temp). they do say that it is unstable though, so i wouldnt expect it to last probably as much as a 2c

Yeah this worries me a bit, as my room is hotter than Kuala Lumpur!

That said, its stored in a dark place, away from sunlight. Will be road testing a bit tomorrow I think...

Probably best not to leave it out in the rain.

Rule of thumb is to store drugs in a secure cool dark place and make sure all are correctly labeled.
Drugs in solution ought to be in labeled sealed containers & the volume & concentration noted down, that way any evaporation can be detected & factored into dosing.
Some drugs you can treat like old bricks some are more delicate.

Nice replies, if I keep in a dark place at room temp how long can I keep like this?

I still have a gram left from Haupt (RIP) even though its in freebase form it hasn't degregated at all so far, I've kept it in a flap in one of my notebooks. It's kept away from darkness, however i can't say that it wasn't exposed to heat but its still great :)

Nice replies thanks. I am getting some aMT freebase would it still be active orally in a capsule?

I've had aMT HCl that kept for years and years in the freezer with no loss of potency. I haven't done it yet, but if I ever get aMT freebase again I've confirmed with the ADD folk in preparation that conversion to the HCl salt is as simple as I thought. You buy muriatic acid as pool cleaner (but the stuff that's ONLY HCl and water, usually 30 percent), then just add it slowly to the freebase (in a nice flat glass pan) until you've added the minimum amount to dissolve it all. Then just put it in a well ventilated area with a fan on it. HCl will evaporate into the air, so there's no need to worry about ending up with excess HCl in your product unlike with some other salt conversions that require calculating moles -- just dump it on, evaporate it, and scrape up the powder. Use safety goggles and gloves because the pool cleaner is super strong. Even breathing the air near it will make your lungs hurt. This form of aMT should be more stable than the freebase, plus it's water soluble.

There is an incredible number of threads on storage. They hardly differ at all in terms of techniques except for emphasis on particular sensitivities. Like: some compounds react to light, others hardly at all.
But the factors to take into account are:
- temperature
- oxygen (depending on the way the compound can degrade, a lot do so by oxidation - reacting with oxygen).
- water / moisture (often chemicals are not that instable themselves but if there is water present the chemicals can dissolve in that water creating ions: positively and negatively charged molecules. These can be more instable because they can more easily form intermediates which lead the way to degradation reaction).
- light, usually most importantly UV-light (which is a part of most of normal light but especially sunlight).

So you see, to store a drug properly for long-term you have to protect it from all of these four.

Exactly why the advice is: to put in an airtight baggy, put that next to a dessicant in a larger airtight container like a mini mason jar, double secure that container to prevent it accidentally opening and sticking it in fridge or freezer. Somewhere during the process you could apply aluminum foil against light, but I often don't do that unless I have a good reason to with a compound (i.e. acid). It's dark enough in the freezer I use anyway. Never direct sunlight or something like that. A little light in the appliance itself maybe, whatever.

Can I assume this answers the question that is the point of this thread? :)

may i add that, while storage should obviously be as good as possible, that AMT can handle quite a bit of abuse? some AMT of mine that was more than a year old, stored in a fridge (not freezer) was still as good as a fresh bag. it had been out in the warm world plenty of times as well, seen sunlight even. so don't sweat it too much!

Yes well, thanks for adding that. If you plan on using your AMT within a year then indeed you should probably not sweat it. :)
But considering there was mention of long-term storage IMO it is best just to store compounds like psychedelics like I proposed to be sure. Phenethylamines are usually considered remarkably stable but I'm not sure if that truly applies to all of them. If it's an elaborate structure like the NBOMe's there may be some instability.

so when i used it within a year, well slightly after a year actually, i took so much that all day next day i was sweating it. AMT sweat emanating from mah pores! =D
cheers, and enjoy this odd one..

Does your sweat smell like shit when you take AMT?

I have only tried it at 10 mg where it acts as an emotional enhancer with some very nice but subtle effects, none of the side-effects. Also it was in winter so less chance of really breaking a sweat.
