So I just finished season 1 over last weekend.
Still mulling over it all, as I watched it in one sitting. I think I was expecting more action but I get the feeling this will get better next season. Why did it have to take a whole season for story lines to completely develop? They should have extended s1 by a few episodes imo.
 
good show. on par with mad men to me. i love the period setting, but the story is pretty slow, not much happens. unlike the sopranos, mad men and boardwalk empire lack really loveable characters.

here's hoping it develops in the second season.

Jimmy Dahmity isn't lovable to you? Or Chalky White?
 
Jimmy is not a very nice guy, he's got a warm side, but hardly nice. Chalky is interesting, but underdeveloped. There's lots of potential in the show, but the characters that are explored so far are pretty bad people.

So no, not loveable to me.

Even Nucky is awesome to me. I don't like the Commodore, however. Fucking anti-semitic prick.

Wait, what? You're comparing lovability to the Sopranos? There aren't more terrible people in the world compared to that lot! =D Seriously though, they're all terrible people... even Meadow IMO.
 
Yeah, I hated everyone on The Sopranos except Carmela by series end. All of those motherfuckers had it coming. I don't feel the same way about Jimmy. Maybe Nucky, but not Jimmy.

Actually, I liked Chris for the most part, but he was major dick unlike the guys we see in this show as well.

come to think of it, i did warm up to al capone in BE quite a bit. that character was "loveable" imo.


my use of the term "bad people" was poorly phrased. rushed that post. :)

I oversit as well.

I oversit the "lovability" of Capones character as well. Mostly, they're all engaging to watch but I also wished things moved a little quicker in S1.
