Benzo prescription?

Ok. First, swim on my phone so swim will try to make this short and simple.2nd, swim has no idea if this post is in the right section. Swim HAS really really bad anxiety and panic attacks and just fits the profile for someone who needs a good benzo. Swim went to a doctor and she prescribed swim Effexor XR. Swim REFUSES to take any anti-depressants because of the KNOWN side effects of them and the fact it wont help swim's condition. Swim was recommeded to try his luck at the emergency room with hope to get them from physician there. So the question is, does swim stand a chance getting a benzo script from an ER physician for the obvious short term use or should he doctor shop hoping he gets lucky? Thanks is advance for all answers.

Bluelight isn't a pool so we don't swim here, so please edit it out of your post so the mods don't have to secondly bluelight is mostly about harm reduction, so I'm not sure asking for advice on how to get prescriptions is allowed.

I will say this, though: Benzos have a great deal of side effects as well. I'm not sure they prescribe them for just short-term use either. If you trully have problems, it might be best to take the antidepressant for SHORT TERM just like you intended with benzos. *not a doctor*

If you do take effexor and decide to stop it because whatever event you needed it for has ceased, it's probably best to consult a doctor before quitting cold turkey.

Hey OP, we don't discuss doctor shopping here, nor do we SWIM, we use first person pronouns. Your post is totally inappropriate.

However, just because you've read about the side effects of Effexor doesn't mean it "won't work for you," just because you want benzos. Most people who are scripted benzos are also scripted another daily medication, and while I personally had physical issues with Effexor (it made me extremely sick and I couldn't keep down food) I've known others whom it has benefited greatly. If you are trying to get benzos, they are going to know that you are there to score drugs, and you aren't trying to get any. Try going to a psychiatrist and telling them about your anxiety and panic issues, along with your feelings about Effexor, and see what they say. We aren't doctors, and while benzos are great for anxiety, they might not be best for treating whatever your condition is.

I don't appreciate that, and as a moderator if you want to stick around you need to learn how to respect people. And you straight up mention "doctor shopping" for benzos in your post. If a doctor hasn't said that you "need" benzos, you don't. End of story. Don't get mad at us for following our rules (which I told you to read, and if you did you'd know why your thread was bad) which, if you want to become a member here, you need to learn how to follow.
