Hi everyone, long time lurked, first time poster. I have probably read most of the opiate withdrawal threads on the boards in the past week or so.

I was getting 60 Opana ER 20 mgs, 90 Opana IR 10 mgs and 30 dilaudid 4 mg for the last 5 months or so due to a very bad back and chronic migraine. Before this, I took the 10/325 pers for years.

Anyway, opana is not the drug for me. I started insufflating them, and quickly my life went off the rails because I would run out early, panic, you know the cycle.

I went to my doc this am an told her that today was my last day taking opana, ever.

I am set up to withdraw, after the advice given in other threads with Xanax .5 mg (60) and then I have phenergan, clonidine, and immodium. I also have 180 oxycodone 30 mg as my new pain reliever. I have never tried the 30s before.

With all this med support, plus the support of my family, would anyone think that my weekend will be too hellish with opana withdrawals? I know now that if I don't get opana in my system every 4 hours or so I start sweating, shakes, etc. I am willing to go through it to shake opana once and for all, but I am quote honestly a little scared!:(

Im just being honest if you can use those 30s,geneoruslly you may not have much discomfort!! But if you run out of them halfway through the withdraw things will get worse and you also wont have any medication for the pain. Keep us posted on how everything goes you are in my prayers

Thank you, I am definitely planning on using the 30s, I hope if I run out my doc will give me more, as she just wants to "get me through this"

I already took one 30 and a clonidine, I have the sweats, but feel pretty mellow...

Opana is one dangerous drug for me personally, I wish I had never gone there in the first place!

Yea I dabble with opana sometimes very mentally addicting drug I can only imagine what you and your body have been through im starting to get in the habit of a 40 a day for the last week so reading this im gonna drop them and just get some loratabs before its to late. Well its never to late but before more harm is done!! Yea I dont know the exact ratio but the opana is much stronger than oxycodone so if your feeling bad enough take two roxies, Also some people get hooked on snorting the roxies, I was but oxycodone has a very high oral bioavilaty so your getting more when you take as directed, I guess its that warm rush we all crave!

have you considered suboxone?

I did consider suboxone, but I think I can handle being on just oxycodone without feeling out of control or feEling withdrawal.

I have very legitimate pain needs. When I took percs for years I never had an unhealthy relationship. If I ran out early, no big deal, I just waited until my next script. With opana, I became so terrified of this precipitous withdrawal feeling I began to obsess over them. But with dilaudid, oxycodone, Xanax, etc, I have never had any out of control feelings....

yea i have legit pain meds too and got too addicted to my roxies. i was put on suboxone for general w/d and pain and tramadol for breakthrough pain. i'm doing ok with it now for about 2 months. i do also take klonopin so that probably helps with the w/d anxiety plus the tramadol has been known as a bit of a mood elevator, something to possibly battle the malaise and depression of w/d.

of course, this is just my own experience. i hate to hear about your troubles but it's great that you're reaching out to a well-advised, experienced community willing to help. it's very smart. so, with all that, best of luck BC. also smoke some WEED. it realllllllllllllly helps with just everything, especially appetite.

I wont be doing any Opana any time soon, I dont need the psychological & physical dependence that comes from taking these.

Hope you can get over this.

If you have really bad pain that warrants Opana and Dilaudid I wouldn't go for the suboxone. It will obviously stop the WDs, but if all of a sudden you have a really bad day pain wise... You could have to wait days before being able to get some relief because of the block. Then again if you slammed an opana you could probably break through it, but that would be kinda defeating the point.

I considered using suboxone, but decided against it for just that reason. I'm glad because sometime when I'm really hurting I need at least 60mg of oxy just to be able to get outta bed. I was able to quit opiates for 4 months or so. I'm back using them again, but not daily and not physically dependent. Life is a lot better without having all those worries about running out, and waking up sick every morning if I didn't take a dose in the middle of the night. I gotta cool it on this dope I got right now though, its really good and just sitting there tempting me lol.

I think you should be able to do just fine with the 30s. Just try to plan way ahead, and chart your doses on the calendar for weeks in advance.

Thank you so much everyone, it is so nice to know I am not alone in this. Yesterday I threw my ped egg (where I had been grating my opana down) in the trash. I feel so relieved to be done with this.

My doc gave me enough to take one roxi every four hours. She told me to set alarms at night to wake and take them.

I am just feeling so awesome because between the clonidine and the roxi, I have really been feeling ok. I can't quite believe it....I feel like opana is not going to let me off the hook this easily...

She told me to set alarms at night to wake and take them.

i wouldn't set the alarm to wake up and take the roxi's. i would sleep and if you wake up and feel shitty, then take one or whatever your dose is. save them for when you really need them. with the number that you got prescribed and all the meds that you got (oxycodone, clonodine, phenergen, and immodium), you should be able to comfortably taper yourself down. try to write out a taper that you'd be willing to follow. don't hesitate to take a PRN(as needed) dose of oxycodone if you're feeling shitty. best of luck :)

Good advice Matt, thanks. I was thnking that myself, because when I took my next roxi dose throughout the night I was still feeling pretty good. My next dose is in an hour. I think I am going to wait until I start to feel uncomfortable. The roxis seem to kick in pretty fast!

Yea no reason to wake up and take a dose.
When I was trying to taper down on a schedule, I would sleep as long as possible. Can't get sick when you're not conscious. Sleeping in definitely saved me a few pills.

Another thought, you're not really withdrawing from oxymorphone. Its opiate withdrawal. Your receptors (Im not sure which ones) aren't being filled and that'll give the withdrawal symptoms. So as long as you fill it with another opiate (oxycodone), it won't be that bad. Oxy 30s should be plenty strong enough too hold you just fine. When you come off those, that'll be another story. But coming off oxy won't be as bad as coming off oxymorphone.
