Tramadol vs. Kratom

I have tramadol and super-grade kratom. I take about 3.25g of Bali Kratom, which feels like 15mg - 17.5mg hydrocodone (some potent kratom).

2 questions:

1.) Which do you like better? Do you like the sedation from Bali/Indo? The stimulation from Tramadol? The cleaner stimulation from Maeng Da/Thai? The long half-life of tramadol?

2.) Should I mix 50mg with a smaller amount of Kratom? 100mg with an even smaller amount? Or tramadol alone? Or screw the tramadol since I have a stronger opiate already?

Tramadol and Kratom should probably not be taken together brcause they both act as SSRI drugs. (not really but they both modulate serotonin)

Not to mention that mitragynine etc are stronger opioid agonists than tramadol that will "drown it out" so to speak.

As for "is this combo safe?" questions, they also belong in BDD so I'm going to move this thread over for you. As sekio mentioned there is a chance of too much serotonin and kratom has a pretty varied alkaloid content which means it is difficult to determine how any batch or dose will feel at any time and mixing it with things practically impossible.

Depends on your sensitivity to both Kratom and Tramadol. I would just take the Kratom alone and leave out the Tram. I believe sekio is correct - the stronger opioid in Kratom will probably overcome whatever the Tram has to contribute.


Or maybe take both and see what happens. I don't believe there would be any harm in mixing them. Be sure and report back if you do decide to do this as I'm a little curious of the outcome.
 
Tramadol is way more potent then regular bali kratom. No matter what type of kratom I had I would prefer tramadol hand's down when my tolerance is really low I can get a nice long buzz that last's all day.

True to a point. It really depends on the strain. You're correct - the Tram can deliver a nice buzz that lasts most of the day, but a good strain of UEI will perform equally well.

Not sure about Bali - I've never tried it.
 
Not sure how long we will keep this thread open, as it seems to be turning into more of a social discussion about the different types of kratom. Will leave it open for now to see if the OP comes back, but will probably close it soon.

I was asking more so for a comparison of effects between tramadol and Kratom, and which is better for pain relief, euphoria, over clean-feeling high, enjoyment, etc.

One big difference between tram and kratom is the comedown. There is virtually no crappy side effects when coming down off tram. The same cannot be said for Kratom. Most of the time when I come down off kratom I get wicked headaches and nausea. Come to think of it, I get headaches a lot with Kratom, but never with tram. That's a big plus for tramadol.

The Kratom high is far superior to tram IMO - provided your strain is potent enough (an extract, etc).

I have extensive experience of Tramadol and limited experience of Kratom so it's difficult to say Tramadol is better than Kratom without trying Kratom a bit more..

I found the buzz from Kratom (Bali Premium powdered leaf) to be similar to Codeine and not as stimulating as Tramadol. The short half-life of Kratom is a bit disappointing and may raise the possibility of tolerance/re-dosing, compared to Tramadol's long half-life as you pointed out.

My experience is, that Tramadol effervescents (if you're lucky enough to get them) are far superior to Kratom, especially if you don't have any opiate experience/tolerance.

I would love to try some Kratom Extracts to see what it's like in concentrated higher dose form. Problem is, its damn expensive really for a herb. Might be worth trying to grow some if you can find the seeds ;-)
