Suggestions for Tramadol 100mg Frequency to avoid Tolerance?

I'm a bit heaver than average, being a bit taller than average... about 6'4 and my guess 230-245 lbs....

My desired use for Tramadol is as replacement for alcohol in clubs. I'm new to it, but so far it is wonderful... better than alcohol for me.... it really is a remarkable pill. My goal now to avoid tolerance.

It sounds great what this guy wrote:

http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=23886

and he seems to avoid tolerance.

But most of the Tramadol Thread that I read here seems to talk more about focusing on major euphoria which apparently is around 300mg for people who never took opiates before.

So I'm not entirely sure what Tolerance exactly means... but my guess is that the more pills they ended up popping, the longer the break must be to get what they call "the magic" back... it is scary sounding that people write many many months there...

I'm afraid to overdo it , taking too many tramadol in a week and then not being able for it do anything for me (Except relieve pain) unless I take a "many months" break.

I'm also afraid to experiment upwards... I'm thinking 150mg might even be better than 100 for me (time release)... or 200....

but I'm looking for stimulant and associated good feelings listed below effect... not "nodding" whatever that is... sounds like it is super sedated but euphoric... sedation is opposite of what I want.

These are the effects I get off of 100mg Tramadol... I believe it is extended release, but I'm not totally sure.... but I think so.

This is the 2nd time I've taken Tramadol... first was 2 days ago... both times I took it with quite a bit of DMAE powder... but I take DMAE fairly often (few times a week) so it doesn't have that much of an effect like it used to before (the DMAE).. but I'm mentioning it because it may have added to the stimulant effect.

  • Calm, Confident Feeling
  • Great stimulant feeling
  • lasts long time... many many hours
  • Hints of Euphoria... it comes on a few times in waves... really good feeling but I hesitate to call it Euphoria
  • More Social... quite talkative... I love this
  • Easy to smile and to "smile with the eyes" also if you know what I mean
  • General Mischevous, Playful. Flirty Feeling
  • Focus
  • Great mood
  • Feel like dancing
  • Music sounds better... you know, the "every song sounds awesome" effect :)
  • Chocolate bars taste really great...

so, please confirm or make suggestions/observations:

1) if I take 100 mg every day, these awesome effects listed above will start to subside? become not so awesome anymore?

2) what about 100 mg every other day?

3) what about 100 mg fri and 100 mg sat, clean rest of week?

4) what about 100 mg fri/sat and maybe 1 or 2 other days a week?

what about at the 150mg or 200mg level ?

what does pot do in combination with 100mg / 150 / 200? I was reading that it is a good synergy... but at these low-tramadol levels , what happens?

thanks

If you take it every day, you're notice tolerance pretty darn quick.

Every other day, it will still happen, but a bit slower.

and so on.

If you increase dosage, your tolerance will go up that much faster.

It's hard to answer your question exactly because everybody's body is different.

ok, I was thinking maybe this tolerance thing was to the euphoria... that is experienced at larger doses... when people talk about this "nodding" thing... but that perhaps at 100mg tolerance could be avoided or managed by spacing it out or something during the week... because it sounds like that from the guy's report at the link in my post (1 year, every time just as strong as the first time, taking once every 2-3 days)

I think I found a good question...

Is length of break required to regain full effects, correlated to how much you were taking before?

I mean to regain the full effects of a 100 mg dose, once you have lost it, would it be a much shorter break required than say if you were one of those guys doing 400+mg daily?

A lot of people don't experience nodding with tramadol, but the time between doses if you have a lower tolerance will be shorter vs. if you have a higher tolerance.

It's also important to warn about the dramatic withdrawals from tramadol, which appear rather quickly with a missed dose and rise to the point of total dysphoria within a day or two. taking tramadol regularly will take your brain on a roller coaster ride because of the anti-depressant properties of the drug. It used to affect me like it affected you, OP... that doesn't last forever, and it is probably good to limit tramadol intake to the weekends if possible. I know it doesn't sound rational at this point in your habit, but it is very easy to one day be taking 12-18 every day to keep from getting sick.

Take into consideration also that tramadol has SNRI properties.

If you've ever withdrawn from one of the medicines in this class, you'll never forget it. It's a banshee on it's own.

Think Effexor/Codiene simultaneous withdrawals.

I think every other weekend would be optimal, ,as he's looking to keep his tolerance down. The less you use the better off you are tolerance wise. Many peoples addiction start off as a "weekend" thing. First it's weekends, than long weekends than before you know it your rationalizing using everyday.

Yeah, of course. It would be best to look at tramadol like ecstasy or something. It is a lot less benign than people think. I'm pretty sure my mental and physical health were at their worst when I was hopelessly addicted to these worthless little pills for more than 2 years. god, they don't cost much but I still look at the 180 tablets disappearing every three weeks and then the next bottle coming in with shock, as i realize that it didn't start like that. It started exactly like the OP describes - just neat, easy happiness once in a while.

Your post interests me as it raises some questions I have been trying to research and find answers to myself.

I have taken Tramadol regularly for approximately 3 years now. At times I have taken it daily for months, and at other items I have taken breaks.

Here is what I have found, based on my own experiences...

The different formulations Tramadol is available in (effervescent, sublingual, pills, capsules, SR etc) have significantly different effects. I have tried them all and from several different manufacturers.

Effervescent wins hands down. My first two months on it was a very strong opiate high and a kind of MDMA "loved-up" feeling, even at just 50mg. I never felt the need to go any higher dose, even after weeks of usage. That said, I'm only a skinny fella compared to you, 5'11 and 63kg, so I'm probably much more sensitive to drugs. The SR (slow release) formula seems to have the least effect for me, hardly any opiate feeling at all.

When I couldn't get any more Effervescent and had to take regular tablets, I found the effects were nowhere the same and not as good. And gradually over time, I began to feel less and less of the good effects and more of the negative effects (over stimulation leading to agitation and irritability, muscle stiffness, liver and chest pain). Because of the negative effects and lack of euphoria, I took a long break from Tramadol of about 3-4 months, and just started taking it again last week.

I took a 50mg capsule again and this time I dissolved the contents in water, something I had never done before, which seemed to have a remarkable effect. I found an opiate high and euphoria getting close towards how it felt with the effervescents. Not quite the same, I didn't experience the pure bliss and MDMA-type happiness, but it was still quite nice.

So, I'm wondering if this supports what you're saying about tolerance and taking a break for months might be the reason. Perhaps I had experienced tolerance to 50mg. The other reason for the more pronounced effect, could be the dissolving in water. I have a theory that Tramadol might have a much faster onset, providing the more pronounced opiate-buzz, if taken like this.

I would be interested to know if anyone else experiences the same effect by taking their Tramadol dissolved in water on an empty stomach?

I would also be interested to know if anyone else has experienced the dramatic difference in effect between effervescent and regular pills/capsules?

The effervescent Tramadol seems to be quite rare now, perhaps due to the abuse potential maybe.

Finally, I would just like to add.. I have never experienced any withdrawal effects from stopping Tramadol. Nothing at all. Probably because I stayed at 50mg and did not take high doses or continually re-dose as some people do. I think you have to remember this is an opiate class drug and treat it with respect and use common sense if you don't want to become dependent.

hey, does anyone know if Tramadol preparations that include Paracetamol (Acetomenaphine) work just as well as clean Tramadol? or could the Paracetamol interfere with any of the good mood/stimulant effects of Tramadol?
