Does anyone else besides me have a problem with this term?
Do people really believe you fry your brain on acid?
IMHO I wouldn't want to take a trip knowing that "I am frying right now", that would just throw off the whole trip- bringing a negative aspect to it.

Anyone else agree? Thoughts?
 
I dunno, I think it kind of conveys the "holy shit my senses are overloaded" feeling. Better than "rolling" conveys anything about MDMA anyway.
 
i never use this term, but a couple times on lsd I have literally felt like my brain is frying, and not even in a bad way either
 
i dunno i kinda like it. i definitely feel fried after lsd and acid (not lsd) is corrosive and frys things so it kinda makes sense. obviously its a negative connotation but its already lsd so i think probably the damage is done. i definitely have felt like my brain was literally frying one time when i was on acid though.

this is pretty dumb but i think frying always sounds cool to me. ;)
 
Maybe it has to do with the term "Acid"...you know that it burns through objects so maybe it was just another way of putting it into slang. I honestly don't know though, but in essence you're right. It kind of does put a negative connotation to it especially to people who have never done it. They might think you're actually frying to death or something, lol.

When i hear the word frying I think of this^

I still cant see frying as pleasurable, the closest thing would be glowing warmness lol

But to each their own terms!
I just though it was weird and it bugged me a bit because of my harm reduction mentally :p
 
Dumb raver kids who insufflate WAY too many stimulants a week use the term frying. Just look at the type of people on the MDMA board and I bet you many of them use the word frying to describe dropping LSD.
 
to be honest, i'd say mushrooms seems like more of a 'fry' ... as in something that you would add to an omelette with a little cracked pepper... DELICIOUS FRIED SPAM EGG SHROOM AND SPAM =D
 
I agree that "frying" on LSD is about as accurate of a statement as "rolling" on MDMA is.

I've used it a few times while on LSD, and it was only in the company of people who have experience with LSD and knew that my brain wasn't actually frying.

I wouldn't use it around D.A.R.E. class n00bs who think LSD burns holes in your brain, that MDMA drains your spinal fluid, etc...

I've tripped many many times over the last ten years or so and I still use it. It's what I grew up with. You punk ass kids will never take this from me!

Plus it's much easier to say "Dude, I'm fucking frying balls!" as opposed to "Wow my friend, this LSD is having quite a pronounced effect on the way I'm perceiving myself and the world I inhabit." :p:D<3
 
i think this thread was brought up before...
anyway, regarding the supposed negative connotation ... i use frying when describing laying in the sun, so a positive thing... its all about what you, the listener, gets from the term.
sadly, my own language hasn't got funky names for such activities. even "tripping" is lacking... the closes would be something like "gone away" which sucks.

btw, what is "dropping acid" in your language (if not English ofc) ?

Not I. And I was an aficionado. I stopped counting after I reached 100 experiences. What was the point.

I don't know anyone who believes that.

But I'm sure the term was coined during Nixon's War Against Drugs.

Why would I want to drink alcohol and get "wasted", "trashed" or"wrecked"?

It's just words and semantics. Are you really worried about being that suggestion ruining your next trip? You're going to sabotage yourself and obsess about it instead of having some great insightful moment or simply enjoying yourself.

And I never thought about it during a trip. Although there was one time when I had eaten a ten strip and started picturing the synapses in my brain going crazy and started obsessing with what was going on and what damage I was doing. Then I put on a DJ mixtape and completely forgot about it as I became hypnotized watching the music come out of the speakers.

Well, for one, the prior poster said "frying balls," I wasn't really suggesting using "balls" but just replacing the word frying with tripping. And... I'm not sure how "tripping balls" isn't still referencing genitals, I'm pretty sure people don't think of beach balls when they hear that expression. In fact, I'm pretty sure almost no one cares about referencing genitals from that age demographic. Teenagers are very wont to reference genitals in every day conversation...
