I have been on xanax for years now . Having to get off two times during my pregnancies. Anyway , i take 1mg 3x a day , and i dont see why people like them? What does it make you feel like ? maybe my body is just immune to them now. I hope this is not the wrong spot to post this ? ! ? If so sorry !

This would be the wrong place to post this, namely because this is something you can ask members via PM's, or just straight up use the search engine to look through previous discussions on this very subject. The latter almost always works the quickest. :)

People like alprazolam because it's a reinforcing drug. Benzodiazepines work on the GABA receptor, so that the chlorine channel opens more frequently than normal. This is its primary method of action, although benzodiazepines do uniquely effect a variety of subtypes of the GABA receptors.

This in turn, causes the user to feel sedated/relaxed, anxiety-free, care-free, etc.

After being on benzodiazepines for long enough, you won't get any of these effects anymore, and they will just allow you to function/feel normal. This is because over time a gradual tolerance builds, to the point where it is extremely hard to get the same euphoric feelings, even if you do increase the dose drastically.

The physiological reason for this happening would be that the benzodiazepine binding site on the receptors becomes lost as addiction/dependence ensue, as the alpha1 and gamma1 subunits become dissociated from one another (these two sub-units aligned next to each other is what creates the benzodiazepine binding site).

Yep, carolinagirl this is not really TDS material as you're not enquiring about something that is troubling you, nor are you asking for advice.

Moving to BDD :)

I dont like xanax very much. I prefer Ativan myself but I havent tried a benzo yet where I can say, wow man.....I really like this pill.

Honestly, I think I'm starting to agree. Xanax has always been my favorite, but ever since being scripted Ativan I'm in love :) I honestly don't care as much for Klonopin or Valium as I do the first two, and find ativan to be the BEST benzo for anxiety out there, and least recreational (this is IME of course) and I've never abused ativan while I certainly have xanax. People who have legitimate anxiety don't really get "high" from benzos, I like them because they keep me feeling normal and relieved, since I'm a bit neurotic and worry about lots of things all the time...when I see people taking epic doses for fun I actually get sort of annoyed :\

i went cold turkey off like 1-3mgs of xanax a day and had a seizure in the er waiting room. I was fed up with pills at the moment and got rid of all my oxy, soma, and xanax. anyways the dr said it was going off the xanax abruptly that caused me to have the seizure. pretty scary shot i dont remember a cpl hrs of my life. i ended up going to detox a cpl weeks later, snd got cleaned and stayed clean for about 7 months. but i couldnt handle the back pain so here i am back on huge amts of oxy, and getn soma as weel. i need to find a thread to ask what a good benzo is since im tripped out by xanax... sorry for the rambling and off subject txt im pretty lit tonight my fellow bluelighters.

I have back pain as well & if you hurt, there is no way around it w/o taking pain meds, I wish there was. I mean, you can get surgery & what not but sometimes you come out of there worse, screw that shit. I rather take pain meds the rest of my life than make my back worse from surgery.

You should try Ativan, it can be very addictive & is good for anxiety but I dont think it has the kick xanax does.

This.

The search function is your friend. I don't think there's a real straight answer to this question, because you're asking if people "like" something, which is subjective. We've got a social thread that caters more to your type of question here. I recommend checking it out. I'm going to close this thread because the information could be found with a search or a post in the Social and Information Thread. (Same thread I linked before).
