the official 10-11 NBA thread ver. LIKE A BOSH

Lol Cuban. You have a bunch of vets, pretty sure Kidd wants his ring and not some rodeo belt buckle. lol TX.

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/news/story?id=6656641

One area where Cuban hinted he might break with tradition is presenting championship rings to his players.

"I might not get rings," the Mavs' billionaire owner told NBATV. "Rings are old school. You've seen it before: There's guys who pick up the sweats and towels and they have these big, blingy rings. I'm like, 'Rings are done. It's time to take it to the next level.'"

J. G. Wentworth. Best. Name. Ever.

And how classy is that Chris Bosh? I pray he gets a ring.

I have yet to finish reading the posts since the game last night, but after seeing this, I kinda felt a need to interject. I've agreed with everything you've said until that. Bosh, in this instance was classy, yes... but he bad mouthed the hell out of Toronto and it's fans on his way out of town last summer. I've got no love for him.

But J. G. Wentworth is in fact an awesome name! I was thinking it too, then you commented on it!

3,4... I think you know I HATE the Miami Heat and you may or may not know that it runs deeper than just my bitterness toward Lebron. I've never been a fan of Wade's charades. I didn't have a problem with Bosh until I started reading all the bad mouthing he did of Toronto and Cleveland (just prior to and shortly after signing with Miami), and being a Cleveland fan... my distaste for Lebron and the way he shit on the entire Cavalier fan base (and yes I acknowledge that he owed us nothing and especially had no obligations to stay here) is far from discreet. That said... the thing that REALLY got me going this season... that REALLY bugged the shit out of me more than ANYTHING... was the incredible, unprecedented, arrogance from the team and it's dick riders. You are (as I've said before) not included in that because I recognize you were a fan before any of this. I just can't stand the fact that everywhere you go in Ohio, there are Heat jerseys. Where were they last year? And it's not JUST people who claim to be LBJ fans, there's Wade jerseys and tshirts all of a sudden.

A majority of the hatred (cause there still would have been SOME haters) could have been avoided had LBJ not had the hour special and the Miami Heat not had their WWE styled festivities where Lebron announced that they'd win "not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not eight..." championships. Christ all mighty. I've never in my life seen such an arrogant group. They may have worked hard as hell, but the way they acted... I don't believe they deserved shit.

That's just my opinion. I still love ya 3,4!!! =D

lolwut? If anything we'll be a much better team now. What is wrong with Mike Brown, exactly?

Mike Brown does get a bad rep. lest we not forget, he was once Coach of the Year. I will say that Mike Brown isn't the best offensive coach (I don't think LBJ can be blamed for all of their offensive troubles, here - all he needed to do was coach a good offensive pick n roll or transition)... but the Lakers have Kobe to worry about offense

kinda like the way I see Peyton Manning as Offensive Coordinator of the Colts, Kobe is the offensive assistant coach of Lakers

I will tell you what Mike Brown is, and that was a spectacular defensive coach. again, one can't just blame that entirely on LeBron's talent level, because look at him this year in the Finals. Serious is right, the rest of Cleveland's team last year was group of glorified 2nd rounders, so getting that team at the defensive level they were at was a feat

I'm not saying that Mike Brown is a bad coach or that The Lakers are fucked forever, but he does have the unenviable reputation of being "the good coach who can't get you all the way there."

Spoelstra has more rep than this dude, simply because he has Riley behind the scenes. I think he is underrated as a coach (Riley raises him like a son, he will learn everything Riley has to teach) both offensively and defensively. Honestly, congrats to the Mavs, they were the better team out there, but this series came down to execution more than coaching. Wade was missing his usual clutch free throws, LeBron was going 3 crazy, and this team still isn't quite sure how to help each other out. Despite all of that, Miami still could have won. They had more talent. Dallas just worked better as a unit (something that comes with time) and was hot on their shooting (something that comes with luck).

I don't think they repeat, but as I said before, if there was any team that deserved to win more than the Heat this year, it was the Mavs. Other than Terry, that team has class. The only other team in the league that I can think of right now with class is The Heat.

Anyways, one of the things I think I will come to love about the NBA are all of these Free Agency battles that will go on. Pat Riley is the man when it comes to this shit. With Phil retired, Riley is the only guy left in the league who can say he has been there and done that.

Thanks for the compliments on the handle. :)

The Heat will contend many more times with that trio. They just need to gel as a team and get that trust in each other and their system.

Everyone since Joe Namath has been calling the championship theirs before the championship everyone else has epically failed.

The Mavs have a great "team" and I don't know what personnel changes would be needed. Brian Cardinal was a surprise. I love watching JJ dribble around 3 defenders for a layup. The NBA channel replayed games 5 and 6 tonight.

The Lakers without Phil Jackson at the helm can can contend for a year or two. Oklahoma City should make the playoffs again. Same with the Celtics.

Peace to all and have a happy and safe high.

Look! Dirk turned his trophy into a bong!

Kobe 5, LeBron 0.

We're going on Season 9, now.

Anyone wanna retract their "LeBron is better than Kobe" or "LeBron is the greatest player in the NBA" arguments?

It's not too late!

Nope. LeBron is still the best player in the world and has been better than Kobe since 2008. Wade has been better than Kobe for a few years now.

One mediocre Finals series isn't going to change my opinion on James. 8)
Kobe has had his fair share too. He is a CAREER 41% shooter in the Finals btw.

Your Kobe homerism is ridiculous. Lmao @ 2nd greatest after Jordan.

Uhh yeah. In case you weren't watching, he was killin the Sixers, then the Celtics, and the #1 seed and #1 defense Bulls. Wade sucked ass vs the Bulls and he was picking up his slack on both ends of the floor.

^ That's a fact. This years' finals weren't the ONLY time Lebron choked in the playoffs. Anyone who thinks LBJ is even CLOSE to clutch (not saying that you said that) has apparently not watched him in the playoffs before. Also... one mediocre finals??? With Miami... yes.

You mean the Finals in 2007 where he was only 22 and carried the entire team of scrubs on his back? How is that choking, exactly? They were never supposed to make it that far, much less beat an elite team like the Spurs.

Are you referring to his 39% shooting? They were double and triple teaming the shit out of him every time, daring someone else from the Cavs to step up (LOL). Really not fair to say he choked.

Oh and his "killer instinct" was just fine when he refused to lose vs. Pistons in '07 (scored last 25 points), in game 7 vs. Celts in '08, when he saved Cavs from elimination with one of the most dominant fourth quarters I've ever seen and in game 5 vs. Magic last year... dude put up 38/8/8 in the ECF for his team, who were completely overmatched vs the superior Orlando team. He has some bad playoff series, but so has every all time great... that doesn't mean he's a choker.

James has been clutch for a few years now, bro. Hey may not be a clutch jump shooter but he's been clutch. Look up the stats, he actually shoots a much higher percentage than Kobe, in crunch time, in the post season. You Cleveland fans need to get over it already, guaranteed you weren't saying shit like this before "The Decision"

Are you fucking kidding me? LeBron is trash. As far as I'm concerned the regular season irrelevant, and the early playoff rounds are irrelevant. If you choke when it matters most you really aren't shit. He's notorious for taking 3 steps and flopping like crazy, absolutely garbage. Lebron wasn't even MEDIOCRE in the finals, he was TRASH. In the last two games I saw him missing FREE THROWS left and right, and he really looking asleep for half of Game 6.

These best player in the NBA discussions are stupid though. I'm waiting on more news on who the Bulls will acquire this off-season, keep hearing Dwight Howard lol. Oh, and watch out for the Knicks next year.

Oh my god. Yeah, I need to "get over it." And the whole rest of the nation needs to find a new catch phrase. Trust me, I've "gotten over it." We're having a debate, I added my two cents. If that's too much for you to deal with, then deflect it or just don't respond.

If you check it again, I didn't say he choked in the 2007 Finals, I said in the playoffs. Did you watch him last year? I also said this wasn't his first mediocre finals. Had he had something more than a mediocre finals he may have won A game in 2007. He may have been 22, but he was every bit the superstar he is now. A game? Not one.

And if he was clutch. He'd have probably not looked SOOOOO bad when it got heavy last year, but instead he got a triple double... thanks to his double digit turnovers and his new move... dribbling off his own foot. Even if you want to say "he may not be a clutch jump shooter, but he's been clutch" then let's see him drive on the basket in the dying moments of a tight game rather than settle for jump shot after jump shot in the most important moments of HIS career. And were you even watching this years finals? I mean... if you were... you wouldn't POSSIBLY say he's clutch. So I'll just assume you didn't even watch.

Jeez. Yeah, it's easy to say Cleveland fans need to get over it. Or that we "wouldn't have said that shit while he was in Cleveland." Yeah, the second part's true I wouldn't have, cause I was also on the dick riding train, but it's funny how when he leaves Cleveland people turn against him and all of a sudden, Miami fans (who USED to say the same things I'm saying now) embrace him. Weird how that works. But guess what... he WASN'T clutch, DIDN'T have the killer instinct then, and I didn't wait til he made his announcement in July to say it. I said it as soon as he quit (and yes... he quit) during the Boston series last year even though I still believed he'd stay in Ohio. Too damn bad I was title hungry fan working the same job, with my same every day problems, while he's living how he wants, doing the things he wants to do. :(

Problem is... I've got the SAME number of NBA title rings as Lebron does. That's clutch, bro.

I was talking more about last year where they were leading 2-1 and were then over run by the Celtics after Le Bron didn't put his mouth guard in for the remainder of the series.

I would never call him a chocker, I just personally don't rate him a big game player. Plenty of players earn my respect in a losing team but they usually show me ticker, something James has yet to prove

Busty is RIGHT on the money with this. LBJ gave the hell up against the Celtics. would we (Cleveland) have won if LBJ put his entire all in the series? who knows, it did work in 2007 (which I will give him props for, that year gave me a HUGE LeBoner) and I thought we were going to be set and Thieveland would finally experience no more basketball woes - little did I know we would be F-U-C-T for a looooong time after

I will NEVER forget how LBJ just gave up against the Celtics. and that right there is my beef with him. it doesn't matter if you try hard and brick, say end the playoff game with 4 for 22 or something. but if you end the playoff game with 2-11 or some shit, that just shows a cardinal basketball sin of NOT TRYING

LBJ might be a spectacular athlete; but dude has no heart and questionable fundamental abilities

Being a big game player is something you have to learn. He's still learning. He will learn to become better in the clutch, but he might not be an all time great in that area. Lebron is a fine overall player, but he will never be a scorer like Kobe or Jordan. He may very well end up being a better overall player, but it's a jack of all trades, master of none.

Lol I watched every Heat playoff game this year, including the Finals.

Did YOU watch the other playoff rounds ?8) He was clutch as hell against Boston and Chicago. And the Bulls were a better defensive team. He was hitting all the big shots and closing out games, not Wade. He just wasn't mentally there in the Finals. It happens and he'll learn from it.

lol @ LeBron isn't clutch now cause of this years Finals.

MJ wasn't perfect either. You talk about how LeBron quit on you in G5 vs the C's, well Jordan pulled the same shit in 1989 ECF Game 5vs the Pistons. Kobe did it vs the Suns in Game 7 too.

If we go back and nitpick every legend's career, you'll find games like these. I don't get why James has to be held to a different standard.
