I've been posting for a few weeks now, trying to figure my way around, and I've made some mistakes. I know for sure I multiple posted the same message about 5 times. Oops. And I still can't say what day and time it is everywhere else, because I had a hard time with GMT the first time I learned it. Now I've forgotten and it's +1. The new posts when I'm usually here are in the Aus/Afr forums. I've posted a few things, but now I'm thinking that must be weird. I feel like I'm trespassing. Anyone care to share?

bluelight is an international community - it doesn't really matter what time it is when you post or when you read posts but, for what it's worth, the post time at the top left corner of a post (just above the username of the poster) is in your local time.

it's not that clear to me what you're asking. care to elaborate?

This is sort of looking like blog material but I'll keep it open for now to give you a chance to respond and elaborate...

I think the question might be is it OK to participate in the regional forums of a region other than one's own region. If that is the question yes it is OK, not against the rules at all. As far as the social aspects and fitting in who knows what will happen in any Bluelight forum. Try to be sensitive to the fact that regional forums exist to have a regional take on things. Like with all forums approached for social purposes its good to lurk a while before posting and have a sense of the threads you are posting in.

It also never hurts to read the forum guidelines and stickied threads on top of a forum.

Okay, well, w/r/t the time above the post, mine from last night is dated 'today 01:58'. I wrote it at around 22:00 yesterday. I'm just, you know, a little dense and neurotic, and can't get a fix on where we all are in in the time/space continuum. (Don't waste your time trying to explain the time differences, though; eventually I'll catch on.) About the 'trespassing' bit: because I've replied to new posts on existing threads, in retrospect, I thought maybe it was not good etiquette to join someone else's conversation, particularly since I'm on the other side of the world and not part of the regional forum. Basically, though, the reason I started the thread had less to do with support questions and more with trying to find fellow newbie bumblers :)

UserCP from the BL task bar and then choose "Edit Options" halfway down on that page on the right in the section called "Settings & Options". This gets you a page where you want the fourth section "Date & Time Options" A pulldown menu there lets you choose your time zone. A second lets you choose if you want adjustments for Day Light Savings Time.

Scroll to the bottom of the page. Click save changes and now all Bluelight time stamps while you are signed into your account will be for your local time. If you move to another time zone you will need to reset this if you want time stamps for your new zone.

Well then perhaps you did post in the correct place after all :D

I would try this thread if you want assistance to be jammed down your throat...

...and this thread if you just want to hang out and chat with people who have sworn a solemn oath to be nice, friendly, welcoming, warm, engaging, patient, and of course fun!
