I clean mine maybe twice a year not out of laziness but because I never remember

I know why you should but it just seems like such a pointless task. I never hear anyone talk about it so do people really clean their ears on a regular basis or is it just something your supposed to do but no one really does like flossing?

^^see every time I clean my ears they're never that dirty, so I never see a point

And y u say u shudnt, I've heard that before but is it really that bad for you?

I would personally advise anyone from cleaning their ears with q tips. Everyone says this, I never cared... but wait until you have to have your ears flushed out because your ear canals are blocked with dried ear wax.

I wash my ears with a bit of soap every day in the shower. And the qtip to dry it out or else there's water in there forever.

This.

I stopped using Q-tips in my ears due to just pushing the wax further in... Still need to make that appointment with the ear doctor. 8)

Currently use a soft cloth and get the visible gunk out of the outer ear.

^ Hrm, it doesn't seem to for me... 'Cause when I shower, I do clean my ears (rub around the piercings, rub the outer bit, behind it, etc), and after a week or two of not using anything else to clean my ears, the wax build-up is disgusting.

Your ears are supposed to have wax. Just running a little water in them in the shower will get rid of the visible stuff.
Your nostrils are suppose to have nice bushy hair to prevent the inhalation of foreign substances too. :)

Regarding ear health I actually do leave them along though and have never had any excess wax issues.

I have a lot of problems with my ears. About five years ago, I woke up deaf in one ear, felt like I was clogged up, and it lasted for months. Then when day, it just popped and I could hear again. (BTW when the volume has been muted for a long time and you suddenly get it back, the drastic change is frighteningly loud.) Since then, I have had this issue (where I randomly go deaf for long periods of time) in both ears, sometimes separately, sometimes at the same time... it really sucks. I have been to the doctor about it, he basically told me my ears just produce a lot of wax and all I can do is have them flushed often. It's really a drag. Maybe you have a similar issue - too much wax production?

I was just pointing out to the people who use q tips in their ears that if they are just trying to wash the visual wax out of the part you can see, just to use the shower, instead of q tips.

Religiously.. On a weekly basis at worst.. Cotton tips all the way. My ears get itchy when wax builds up, so cleaning them is near orgasmic. Lol

I would hate the feeling of pushing a cotton bud into my ear and just pushing wax further into the canal

I'll just just my index finger in the shower maybe once a month and im ready to go

I guess i just naturally dont have a wax problem

This sounds like me, almost exactly--Except change "five years ago" to "two years ago." The hearing in my right ear is so muted, it's ridiculous. When it first happened, I let it go like I let all medical problems go at first. 8) After awhile, I mentioned it to my mom, to see if my craptastic insurance at the time would cover an ear doctor... She bought me these drops to put in my ear... Helped for a week, then it was worse than ever. I've debated trying candling, but I've heard those really don't work. Now that I have good insurance again, I need to go see an ear doctor to get to the bottom of it--It could just be the wax build up having been pushed back 'cause my left ear is fine. Though when I was using Q-tips, it seemed my right ear canal was smaller than my left. Rather odd.

as far as I am aware you are not supposed to put anything bigger than your elbow in your ear, I use a face face cloth for washing and I do not have any problems. I take it a q-tip is a cotton bud ??
Your elbow is pretty big man. 8o Are you sure you didn't mean another part of the body? :P

A Q-tip is a cotton swab, not a cotton ball--Not sure what a cotton bud is. :P Kinda like how bandages are called Band-aids--In the US at least. 8)
