I appreciate all the stuff I've read in your advice sections :-

Why won't you delete my account for me?

Again, this is the user's responsibility. No one forced you to register and no one is forcing you to leave.

But since you can clearly ban a member then surely you can at least disable the account, put a strike through their user name or just put "banned or suh under thee user name, or what ever, its just notn that hard a thing to do.

I can re activate my account and get myself banned but that seems a little unnecessary.

Lots of other forums have this facility, often used for people spamming etc.

I would like people to know I'm not around here any more,I did post up a hotmail account that if it got spammed to hell would not have mattered but that was deleted from both posts

Dude, I urge you to reconsider :). I thought you were in a better mood about things?

(Also; they really aren't going to ban your account, no matter how much you ask. Trust me on this. It's been standard policy for years. There are some very good reasons for it).

I'm just in a really bad place right now and not in a position to be able,to deal with the minor jibes and jests. I want the account deactivated so I just cant re-use it even if I wanted to, I'll end up logging on and getting my self worked into a state and doing what I did yesterday....taking 150mg of Diaz and drinking 2 cans of special brew to try and calm down.

They will have no choice but to ban my account if i choose to take that route but what would be the point in that.

I work in technology and I know as well as you they could do something for me without to much hassle at all.

Its not personal with anyone but I'm asking the site for a favour on this one for my well being

I hear where you are coming from, and I hope you feel better soon. I apologise for my part yesterday.

The thing is, even if they ban your account, you can still see BL. You could still read everything here. You could still register a new account. That's why the policy is not to ban people in such situations. (Believe me, you're not the first person to feel like this; or even the first person posting in this thread to feel like this :))

Maybe what you could do is do a password reset, and type a new password without looking at it, so you can no longer log in. Or maybe use website blocking software so you can't visit BL? (I'll stop here because I don't have either the power or authority to ban you, so I don't want to speak too much on behalf of those who do).

I know i could still see BL but I wouldnt create another account, I've had that one for 6 years !!

Just ban / remove the account guys , dont make me do something stupid to achive the same result. The policy is unreasonable I dont care how long you've been running it.

It's not the ability to do so that is the issue but the policy involved. I can assure you it has been debated and hashed out over and over again and the final answer is we don't ban users nor delete their account by request.

You can change the email address and password to gibberish then log out and you won't have access. You won't ever be able to regain access though so think long and hard about what you want now AND what you might want later.

edit:
The policy is unreasonable I dont care how long you've been running it.
The length of time the policy has been running has nothing to do with the fact we stand behind it. I've given a way for you to permanently lose access to your account by your own actions. What more do you want? This also leaves staff out of the decision making process so that there is no changing your mind and then asking that staff reinstate your account because you weren't thinking straight or something.

The fact that you are threatening to break the rules to incur infractions is quite disappointing to me as well. I mean you've been here for 6 years and I understand that you are frustrated at the moment but is that is really how you want to end it? Isn't there some sort of "ah there were good time and bad times but it's definitely been an interesting part of my life" feel or something? I'd still encourage you to reconsider.

You can also change your location to say something about you no longer being active.

^^^

I think you will find cannot change your email address to gibberish, I tried that already.

Am I really forced to be banned by breaking the rules...that just seems plain stupid and regardless of how long the policy may have been in place it doesn't mean it can't be reviewed or changed, In fact it sound's like you've fallen into the trap of "this is what we always do"......."final answer"..... sounds a bit like "final solution" and we all know who came up with that little phrase.

So we are left with a choice, either you guys come up with a way to meet my request or I will re-activate my account and get banned. A sad end to a 6 year relationship.

Its a nice idea Tommy but people put such BS in that entry I dont feel it would really help..but thanks for trying to find a solution

The way I feel right now ....yes

Can you request a new IP address from ur provider and then when you try n access BL it will automatically ban you for being on a different IP address.

When I try n access BL from a different IP address it auto bans me.

I dont have a fixed IP and soetimes run from behind .......cover

Why don't you just delete your posts? It will be easier than arguing to get banned, and then making posts to get banned.

I would much rather have the same name with 0 posts than ex-bluelighter with the 854 posts.

854 over 6 years.....I really do not have the time or energy, unless you know of a quick way in which case we have ourselves a solution

If by Saturday you still feel that way, then I will strongly consider deleting the posts that are in closed threads that you cannot delete on your own. The rest would be up to you.
