Decriminalising marijuana 'worth a try'

already

There is a huge industry. Rolling papers. Grow gear. Seeds. Para. Once there is enough money you'll see bud weiser and the like.. its definitely coming.. I think its just going to be not pursued. Its kind of like that most places in canada.. unless you blow smoke in a cops face they don't care... in bc if you get caught with a pound they just take it often.. you can do whatever you want here as long as there are no bodies or snitches..

"In a monumentally historic move made by the Obama Administration via comments from Attorney General Eric Holder, the Feds announced today that they would begin to work with Governors and State lawmakers in seeking a legal compromise that allows for State-sponsored medical cannabis dispensaries to be legal on the Federal level."

And so it begins.

Here you can get a grow licence no problem.. you can have limited plants. But as many lights as you want.. you can get prescribed 10 plants for arthritis and run a 10 lighter and get 15lbs every crop.. my friend has 15 plants under 8 lights. He is allowed a pound at home and 100 grams on his person.. he's plenty healthy...

They will eventually decriminalise it or at least stop hauling people through the court system but more likely they will keep it restricted to medical conditions, which of course you will need some sort of licence for. Regardless, for most people like my self it will remain illegal for a number of reasons that losthippy suggested. You think your car or health insurance is high now, wait until the insurance companies find your name on a cannabis register. Whether you think the odd spliff is a problem or not the actuaries who are in the know will think otherwise. I know my income protection premium sky rockets as soon as you say you enjoy snowboarding or racing motor bikes. A lot of business will prevent you from working even if your "habit" is a toke once a month at a bbq with mates. For most people it will be better to keep your habit to yourself and fly very low on the radar. The only benefit for myself would be the ability to source weed but we live in Australia, how hard is it to find a $50 bag on a Friday night?

Busty's on the right track. I had two ancient pot convictions expunged but then had to authorise full disclosure for a job application involving a post of 'responsibility and influence'. Like in the mining industry and certain Govt. jobs, random piss or swab tests are personal invasions we will be seeing more of right across the empoyment sector. Employers can't take the chance of liability and insurers won't pay out if a litigant has THC in their system no matter when they took it or what their tolerance may be.
On the roadside swabs, I have heard that on at least two occassions (one in WA and the other in NSW) positive results gave the cops cause to seek search warrants for the cars and homes of the drivers. The WA bloke had a couple of plants in his back yard and the other got done for a single plant under lights in his wardrobe.
Again, the public will want serious controls over drug-addled potheads driving the streets, teaching their kids, operating heavy machinery, doing their tax, cutting their hair etc. even though that's what's probably happening already. And how many of us would want our names on a register and willingly submit to the oversights and restrictions that would be imposed just to choof-up? As Busty says, maybe its smarter to stay under the radar and keep playing 'catch me fuck me'.

I'm in California and it's crazy, people actually accost you trying to get you to the clinics so you can get medical marijuana....only for Californian citizens though apparently ;)

I've never heard of anything like this in Australia. Are you a able to link to reputable literature supporting such a claim?

google

is that sourcing?

check legal for these guys, same as selling your rx

but its easy to get permission to grow, relatively i would guess...

^no, google is not sourcing, nor is linking to articles. like sameria i'm unaware of anything of the like within australia so if you could point us to the article/source of that it's be appreciated.

as i said it is "common" knowledge that you can get a prescription to have/use/grow marijuana legally in canada. the most i have personally seen (i have personally held the license or saw the legal paper posted on the door of the grow)..

plants 49 .although ive heard of more

on person 1/2 lb

in house 3 lb

from what i understand the dr figures how many g's you smoke a day and figures how much you need. ive heard recently of people having insane amounts because they ingest oil only. here it is not uncommon to buy a 1/2 lb and make oil to treat serious problems.. as for the abuse of these privelages i can only comment on the few i have heard of that take advantage of the situation while the laws and procedures to stop this are new and ineffective. hope this is helpful..

Just ignore them j0nblaze, they are just cranky because they have to source their bush bud from crazy hippies or bikers. You made yourself extremely clear that you were talking from a Canadian experience in your post.

I'm learning. Thanks. Wherever you are, if nature is accessible you can grow. Just don't invest more than you can abandon your investment to help keep it in perspective.

I chalked up the angst to either resentment or jealousy. Both totally forgivable in this case. Thanks for the encouragement all the same busty.

Not sure how to judge your weed situation, so. Ill ask some questions and ill take a guess if you like.. what is a 50 bag? Typically? Sorry mods.. lets wait to answer. Head shops? Are there many? Are they acceptable or tolerated or not happening? Hydro shops? Are they around?
