In Texas 2 Docs Prescribing Pain Meds Illegal

Okay, please don't shoot me if I am posting this in the wrong forum or if I am repeating a question. I did search before posting....

Okay say I have (2) doctors prescribing me vicoprofen (i'm in texas), one is my GP and one is my spine doctor. Is that illegal or considered doctor shopping? I mean if I see one Thursday and get a script for (40) then see the other one on Tuesday and get another (40) is that okay? I mean I definitely don't want to get flagged or arrested.

Can anyone help me out here?

yeah, i would think that would be dr shopping. i would use my insurance for one and pay cash for the other at a different pharmacy.

btw i dont know if this will get closed or not, since ur question is kinda on the verge of asking about subverting your dr's and that doesnt really fly here. i'm no mod tho...

Unless both doctors are aware that the other is prescribing and they're OK with you taking that much, yes it is considered doctor shopping and is illegal.

Getting an extra prescription isn't worth the risk of never being able to have pain adequately treated again because you're flagged as a drug seeker.
