snorting drugs kick in instantly?

OK, something weird happened this morning. Normally when people tell me they can feel something they've snorted affecting them after a few minutes or less, I usually discredit it, because I've always thought it takes a good 5-10 minutes for any drug to start seeping through one's mucous membranes and cross the BBB (maybe a little less with coke, but it has unusual local effects). Even 2C-B took about five minutes to transition from pain to a tripping headspace. I woke up this morning in terrible opiate w/d since I didn't take anything last night. My eyes were pissing out tears every time I yawned, which was near nonstop. So I cut up the line, yawning and crying involuntarily, wiped my face off, and snorted it. No more than five seconds after bumping up, I yawn again, a fucking gigantic one... but no tears come out. Then, maybe half a minute later, I yawn yet again... still no tears. After this, the rest of my symptoms start to gradually disappear.

This tells me that the drugs are having at least some effect immediately upon snorting them. Is this true, and is there any sort of technique (nasal spray or something) that I can utilize to expedite this process and try and get a fatter rush?

Onset of high based on route of administration depends entirely on the drug ingested. Some substances are almost instantaneous when snorted, some take an hour to set in, while most take something like 3-5 minutes. But it all depends on the individual substance.

If it's the only thing different than usual I'd try yawning again. Maybe it was opening up cavities and promoting blood flow to the nasal membranes? Although it might of started quickly causing withdrawal symptoms to abate, time to max concentration for fentynal (which is assuredly more lipophilic than what you took) is still 7min.

If you want to try and increase rate of nasal absorption (somewhat moot I think) you can administer the drugs as a spray or even just snort in solution so that they don't have to dissolve in your mucus fluid. Might help with respiratory issues as well. Particle in lungs and throat I mean not CNS depression.

in my experience, snorting just about anything ('cept maybe molly) tends to kick in within 5 minutes, coke and opiates nearly instantaneously. and i am pretty convinced that addiction/tolerance leads (at least in some people) to an absurd sensitivity to opiates. even if what you're taking isn't enough to get you high (or even "well") i think your body reacts real quick to the presence of the chemical.

if you're not a fan of snorting, sublingual administration is pretty quick too. just crunch your pills up and put that powder under your tongue and you'll feel it pretty quick as well. sometimes i take my adderall sublingually by breaking the pill in half and just letting it sit for awhile. plugging works well too for fast onset.

i think the time it takes for it to hit you when snorting also depends on how clogged your nose is, how finely the powder is, and how hard/soft you snort said substance.

Yea the shit paralyzed your face reulsting in to no tears. Who the fuck yawns on speed or coke anyway ( assuming thats what u took ). XAXAXA

i think he's talking about opiates. yawning during opiate withdrawal is pretty common.

Another thing to consider is the psychological aspect of withdrawal.. Personally, I also believe it still takes 5-10 minutes for intranasal absorption, but when I am in withdrawal and snort a line of heroin I almost instantly feel better, despite the "high" not coming for a few minutes at the least. I attribute this to the fact that snorting that line makes your mind "know" you aren't going to be sick anymore. A lot of physical withdrawal symptoms can be chalked up to your mind just tricking you into feeling you are feeling worse than you really are.. If that makes any sense. My mind isn't operating at full steam right now.

^ no I totally get what you're saying. Placebo effect, kinda. I'm using OCs for the record (old school ones... hooray Canada).

I've been snorting drugs for a few years now and I've worried about how much powder and shit is getting into my lungs. What exactly do you mean by "snort in solution", should I just dissolve a crushed-up pill in a few ml of water and truck it? I'm guessing using a dollar bill won't work, haha.

Yeah, sometimes people make nasal solutions of water soluble drugs, such as cocaine, and opiates. You can buy a nasal spray from the store, and empty it out and replace the solution with your water/opiate solution. Alternatively you can use saline instead of water. If you do use water, distilled, or bacteriostatic sterile water would be better than just tap water, though it will still work obviously.

For example: If you had a bottle with 10ml in it, that emptied after 100 sprays, you would have 0.1 mL in ever spray.

So you could take 10ml of water, and if you put 100mg of oxycodone in the solution, every spray would yield 1mg of oxycodone. Now obviously that isn't much but I am just using these numbers for math purposes, to keep it simple. You can obviously make it stronger or weaker. Just make sure you look up how soluble said opiate is, so you dont lose any in the making.

This way you can just carry the nasal spray bottle in your pocket, and discretely dose in public without having to hide somewhere while chopping up lines.

There are a number of threads dealing with making nasal spray solutions of drugs, the search engine should help you out there.

whenever i had OC's, i always preferred plugging them. definitely the way to go with OC's so that you get a fast come up without decreasing the length of time ur buzz lasts.

Having just gone through this, my w/d symptoms took about 5 mins to go away, and it happened suddenly--i was waiting for it to kick in and then I instantly felt better and forgot about my w/d symptoms all together. And IME once I got the dope and I had to wait 10 mins to use it, my w/d got very intense during that period, just my two cents

LMFAO yes of course go check Erowid effects START to kick in as soon as 30 seconds but they do not come into FULL EFFECT for a total of 15 minutes right after snorted.

This is what came into my mind. I don't know the physiology behind it but I envisioned that when you snort an opiate t starts getting absorbed instantly so maybe 5% of the dose is absorbed after 20 seconds (just a guess obviously) normally you wouldn't feel 5% of your dose but maybe if you're in withdrawal you might.

I feel it has alot to do with the humidity of the air, determining the moistness of your nasal cavity and how deep you are able to snort it.

Might be over-analysing the problem there whippa craka, although extremes either way would likely make a difference (dry to the point of ulceration in the middle of the kalahari vs hacking your way through jungle to find a few yage/coca plants in the andes)

i'm doing another cycle of tolerance reduction at the moment to my rx pain meds (dihydrocodeine) using methoxetamine, and I feel better within a few minutes after dipping my knife into the bag and snorting a bit.

(I am pretty experienced with the drug, so no, I don't weigh out doses on my scale, I do have one, and I use it for substances that should be weighed accurately, but I do not feel the need, after the number of times I have used it, to do so for methoxetamine, this does not mean its a good idea to eyeball doses of drugs)

my 2 cents...
someone correct me if im wrong..
but it seems that the reason it hit you fast.. is
1. Your nose is untouched. by that i mean its not all damaged and blocked by other drugs you've snorted...(judging by what you posted im guessing your not a daily tooter.)
and
2. It may have something to do with the fact you just woke up.. Similiar to a Wake-N-Bake with mary jane.

Coke always took about 10-15 minutes to fully kick in, although after a few minutes with really pure coke, I would be semi coked up, but after 10-15 minutes I would be fully coked up..and snorting heroin takes about 10-15+ minutes for the powder to really kick in fully, although sometimes as much as 20-30 minutes for heroin if your nose is clogged kinda or something, crystal meth seems to kick in within 5 to 10 minutes fully but you feel the effects start after you snort it, it just intensifys alot over the next 5-10 minutes. I never liked snorting OC's myself, even the old school OC's had binder in it, and I felt a better buzz from chewing up an OC. I had a script, actually a couple of scripts at once from doctor shopping, but anyway I also had a few connections for 40's and 80's of OC's foe cheap, and I snorted OC's when the person railed me out a free line of an 80mg OC or something, but my nose had been broken a few times and it never drained well enough , I felt a stonger buzz from eating the OC's chewed up and swallowed with a soda or something. Of course in those days shooting IV OC's was my prefered way to "fly".

^The reason you felt a better high from taking OC's orally, vs nasally, is because the bio-availability of oral oxycodone is considerably greater than snorting them. Chewing an 80 would get you higher than snorting an 80. Snorting may kick in slightly quicker but the intensity of the high will be less than that of taking it orally. Taking it orally will also make the high last longer.

But aside from that, you are correct in saying if your nose is blocked, or damaged (due to being broken, for example) it will not be able to absorb at its full capacity, thus reducing the efficacy of absorption.
