Since SamhaimGrim scorned me and Spadey for talking about gambling in the gibberings thread <Nah, just said it was boring for others and maybe warranted its own thread. Less of the melodrama, comrade ;)> I thought I would start a gambling thread, probably much to the distaste of some bluelighters 8) <Why? Gamble all you like!>

I still consider poker to be mainly skill but you can play it like you are gambling if you ignore the tactics and skill parts so it is really gambling.

Anyone had any good wins recently? Got any bets on? Got some cool gambling stories.


(No Matched betting in here as that isn't gambling really) Unless the powers that be decide it is and move it here ;)

I didn't bet on the Champs league final today but really should have just put all my money on Barca as they were obviously going to win.

Had a nice poker win last week, I withdrew $700 of profit, then got unlucky and lost the last $200 of profit in a cash game to a 2 outer :!

NEvermind, stil a good profit.

Mate won £2500 on a 12 timer fottie bet a few years back. He'd deny it to your face but I'd say its fucked his life up. Stands in the bookies most of the day now when not working like most I know. Just got a we taste. (must be just like the brown) Got into the horses and that was that.

I know one fella who stood in the bookies that much when Ladbrokes took over they gave him a job just keeping the kids off the pokers and generally just standing about doing what he was before only getting paid. Nice if you can get it.

I know this other old fella who does place pots on the cartoon races. Always found that weird.

From £20 I deposited on 21nova casino I got it to £760 just from doing slot machines and roulette, probally luckiest person ever and ive never been back on there because I know I will just spend it all again trying to win it back...

I got up to like £250 using the live roulette table just doing £1 bets around the board, then realised I had to spend like £500 before I could withdraw so I just started doing £5 spins on this slot machine and the £100 win kept coming in, withdrew at £760 and left, did this in about 2 hours and left for a friday night

never won anything ever since though mind

I put a tenner on united to score in the 15th-30th minute odds were like 40-1, scored in what like the 32nd minute :(

mattronik, surprised 21Nova casino even paid out all that money especially from a bonus, don't think they are a particularly reputable casino, usually they'd just shout 'bonus abuser' and tell you to fuck off. No casino likes a winner especially when playing with the casinos free money.

I haven't done any gambling recently, not even a quid in the fruit machines when in the pub. Tempted to have a wee game of poker last night but was too tired. Found a website that lets you play heads up BJ against other players which I fancy, if you play by the rules and never make unneccessary hits could be profitable I think, especially if the casino chucks a bonus in o play with.

It could definitely have happened, bloke got a bit lucky. Wouldn't work most of the time and he'll probably lose it all back especially if he keeps throwing the lot on the favourite.
 
Bit of a funny story. Mates wee brother went into do a footie bet off a coupon but it ended up it had been the coupon from the fixtures from the week before:D Girl took the bet even though I'm not sure how it worked through the machine?

He's daft though we sent him to the shop for a big packet of skins once and he came back with 2 wee packets and said they had no big ones you's can stick those together:D

Did he at least pick the winners and get paid? Which bookies was it, if that works might try and do that with some distraction on the girl at the counter while I put in last weeks slip full of winners.

Doubt that they would pay out though, would probably just refund the bet amount.

Might be true though knowing the Bookies PR system it prolly ain't. It doesn't matter if you are backing 1/20 shots or a 20/1 shot the bookmakers margin is the same. The key is to identify errors in pricing.

You won't get paid, after you leave the counter the clerk edits the bet on the software, there will be no corresponding market so the bet will be voided.

PJ MCartans... old sckool bookies a few years back before Ladbrokes took over.

On the subject of stroking there was one knocking about a few years back were the bookies at hand got cleaned out. Something stupid like rubbing shit off the docket or something like that and being quick about it? There was a bar just up the road who use it and every fucker was at it. Can't remember the details.

Yeah it took me over 2 months to get my money, they made me sent them like 4 different forms of copied ID then they said that there was problems with my bank and my sort code was wrong, but eventually got the money in the end, not spent a penny on there since..

1-0 lol, that was bloody optimistic.

I have heard from a lot of bookies and gamblers that 3-1 is the most bet scoreline as it hardly ever happens but has the best odds for a realistic scoreline. I always used to bet 3-1 and would have done if I had remembered to before the game. Could have made a few bob, but nevermind.
