i've done plenty of baking when it comes to pot. Every time I have done it though, i've always gone for an ounce of bud with 250g of butter. This time 'round i've got an undisclosed amount of leaves.

My idea for this is to use 500g of butter, and put in a crapload of very finely ground leaves until it looks like there is no more liquid for saturation. Kind of like a really thick soup I guess. Boil it for a couple of hours, then strain it. THEN put all the squeezed liquids back on the stove, and looping the process again probably four or five times or until the butter is the colour of the darkest of dark stools.

This was my idea of making the most out of the leaves in the smallest amount of butter. My main question is, would this be the best way to do it? Or should I just toss the whole lot in and wait for my billy to boil?

Also, anyone with likewise experiences and results, it is demanded you reveal your secrets

peace

I don't see many, if any problems with your recipe. It may or may not be as strong as bud butter. Be prepared to be surprised though. I have floored myself from leaf butter cookies by underestimating them more than once.

All the best

For starters you don't want concoction to boil, have it on the lowest possible heat and let it settle for a few hours. 250 grams is not going to be much butter I think, I'd probibly just stick with 500 grams. I tried this once with a couple of ounces of leaf. Came out perfect. I found that most recipes for cookies and cake only required small amounts of butter so I just double (or tripled...can't remember) the amount if butter used. I made a cross between a cookie mix and a brownie mix. The resulting biscuit once cooked was very oily to touch and left a bit on your fingers when handling it. I ate a chunk about the size of 2 slices of bread (to be honest it tasted like shit) and was absolutely floored hahaha, unbelievable body stone. Had about three beers and ended up power chucking on my front lawn. Good times good times 

Hehe that sounds like the desired effect every time I intentionally eat cannabis products.

Un-intentional dosing is fun for the first couple days though. Day three of face planting the same pillow can get old :|

Sounds like a pretty sound recipe heythatsmybike.

I wouldn't really hold back on the butter though if you think there's still more goodies in the leaf. Can always adjust your cooking recipes or make something completely different to suit your quantity of butter.

Yeah i dont see any problems with ur method. Although i wouldnt boil it, no need to. U just need to heat it up enough so that the THC will get heat activated and will be absorbed by the fats in the butter. I would use more butter too, u dont want leaf butter lol I usually use buds to make it and then turn it into sum nice edibles. I luv space cakes/chocolates:)

A less comonly know method not many people use. is milk

soak 1-2g of heads in 200ml milk overnight in the fridge then bring it to a boil just before use in ur favouret bakery treat.

a cleaner and better tasting method.

just thought id throw that one out there. ;)

The best way I've seen leaf used is in cooking is first turning it into "ice hash" or whatever it's called with bubble bags first, then just throwing that in your favourite cookie/cake recipe. This way you don't overpower the taste with leaf. I'm not really into pot though due to the anxiety it causes me, so I'm by no means an expert.

yeah after many years of doing it, we dont bother with just leaf anymore, only an oz or 2 of buds and stems.

I prefer strong tho.

I always use a slow cooker or 'crock pot'. You can pick them up relatively cheap and they work awesome. I think we had 4 slow cookers going at one point.

Haven't done it for a while so can't remember exactly the amounts but I think a couple blocks of butter and as much material that'll fit. Normally used the trimmings from 12 good sized plants, in a couple batches. (not the full fan leaves, just the small ones off the buds + all the debris from the harvest and cut) Just chucked it all in the pot, put it on 'auto' and left it for 24 hours, stirring occasionally. Filter out the materiel, let liquid set in fridge, when set poke a hole in the top fatty layer and pour the waterery bottom layer down the sink.

Easiest way for sure. The butter won't taste as nice but I've got a good cookie recipe that masks it well. Two cookies were normally plenty for most people, and got about 200 cookies per batch. Used to get mates round for the cooking bit and we had a great time :P had a whole production line going. Churned out so many cookies that we'd get sick of being stoned and gave many away...people were always impressed with the strength and more than 3 cookies tended to destroy.

Good times :D

btw - I've never actually grown cannabis myself but was lucky enough to know a few people that did and who were good at it. Most of them hated the harvesting process so I'd always volunteer my time and get a heap of free bud and as much trim as I wanted for my efforts. I loved it :) just sitting down snipping with some music and a joint was heaps relaxing, especially good in winter when it's freezing outside and you're under the lights in a nice warm tropical rainforest.

Here is my final product. I had written a lot just before full of alot of useful information bit the iPhone being the piece of shit it is decided to piss in my face and close my explorer for fun.

So I'm just going to keep it simple, as I'm hiding on the toilet at work. Boiled this butter through four seperate heaps of kief/leaves. Each time I boiled it through I used half a pound, so all up it's had two pound through it. After two hours I strained it all through knee highs and put it back on the stove. For those of you who mentioned it, I don't brig it to the boil I just let it simmer. Just easier to say :) next time will chuck all ingredients into the pot at once to see if there is much difference.

Why would you want something you're gonna eat to be "the colour of the darkest of dark stools" hahaha
I hope your cannabutter turns out to be of good quality.

Well I wasn't wrong, and I was freaking out at first, but it looked like this before it set!

I've never seen it look so vile before. All s well that ends well though :D plentyof happy cakes to keep me warm for the next couple of weeks

remember to keep your finished cookies/cake etc away from little hands.

its very easy for a child to yonk a piece of your finished product and have a very messy time.

and don't think it doesn't happen (as I discovered after eating an ounce plus of bud mixed in a chocolate cake, yes i ate 3/4 of a cake, when i was 13 years old)

Looks like a solid batch, heythatsmybike. Hope it tastes good.

Here is an old thread with a few recipes that might be useful.

BT :)
