In 2009, two friends partying in Copenhagen ingested a powerful psychedelic drug with the odd-sounding name of Bromo-DragonFLY.

One of the men died and the other likened the hallucinogenic experience to "being dragged to hell and back again – many times. It is the most evil (thing) I've ever tried. It lasted an eternity."

In the two years since then, that quote and other harrowing accounts and warnings about the toxic consequences of the designer drugs, Bromo-DragonFLY and 2C-E, have appeared on websites all over the Internet.

That alarming news, however, apparently didn't spread to south-central Oklahoma. If Cody Weddle of Ada knew about the dangers of designer drugs, it didn't stop him from ordering online what he thought was 2C-E from a Chinese supplier, according to a court affidavit. While 2C-E is legal in some areas of the country, federal legislation has been introduced to ban it.

And, for good reason. Within days of the package's arrival, two young people were dead and six others had been sickened. Almost overnight, Weddle went from the role of East Central University student studying computer science to becoming a criminal defendant in a double second-degree murder case.

Isn't 2C-E a pretty nasty high compared to the other 2C's? I always heard that 2C-B was the only worthwhile 2C-x drug out there and its been illegal sense like 2002 or something i believe.

I don't know where you heard that from, but many people find the 2C chemicals worthwhile. 2C-E is said to be one of the more intense trips of the bunch, but many people find it to be one of the more worthwhile drugs of this group because of that. Personally, I have only tried 2C-I out of these, and I found it nothing but enjoyable. I would love to try more of them if the opportunity arises.

What's important is to know what drug your taking and use a properly measured dose. The tragedies involving 2C drugs all involve uninformed users taking unknown, massive doses. With proper information (and no mislabeled drugs), there's no reason they are any less worthwhile than mainstream psychedelic drugs.

OK, so he ordered what he "thought" was 2C-E, we now know it isn't. And now, "federal legislation has been introduced to ban it".

So it ISN'T 2C-E when it suits them to warn against buying legal highs and it IS 2C-E when it suits them to say "I told you so!".

BTW. I couldn't get the article link to work. I found it again in Google here...

Thanks for posting the link anew!
And you are right about how they warp reality to suit their needs...:(

2c-e at reasonable, oral doses is quite safe and anything but nasty. I think Shulgin considered it one of the magical dozen or whatever, and I concur. But honestly, it was very easily obtainable, and it was only a matter of time before someone pushed the envelope, and got it banned.

Soon, it seems like it the DEA will push for a law that makes everything illegal until it can be shown not to cause ANY harm whatsoever. Actually, my point is, the more things they make illegal - the more people seek out chemicals that are far more dangerous than the one they just outlawed. "Can find any GHB - I'll get this spray paint a shot. I'd like to be shown the medical PROOF that GHB - and GHB alone has ever caused a fatality.
