Benzos Obtaining a prescription for xanax / valium ?

This is like my first post so bear with me. Today i went to a Psychiatrist in the hope of being prescribed Benzo's for anxiety (Xanax, Valium etc)..

Instead , I got prescribed an anti-depressant called Efexor ( Venlafaxine - a SNRI ) and Zyprexa ( Olanzapine - an anti-psychotic I think ) ..

I was wondering how would I go about getting this changed over to Xanax or Valium without arousing any suspicion?

I have to visit my Doctor next week to get the prescription renewed. This is the first time I will be meeting this doctor so he wouldn't have any medical history on me.

Any tips on the process of getting the prescription changed over?

First of all im pretty sure your cant be asking questions about what to tell your doctor in hopes of getting some good meds so theres a good chance this post will be deleted by a mod.......BUT i will say, i have gone to my docs for the same reason and i did get prescribed xanax but i had a whole big shit show of a story i told him and he still only gave me 60 1mg footballs to last me a month. But first time i went to the docs he tried to prescribe me paxil (anit depressant) and he prescribed the zyprexa for sleep. I never even got the script for the paxil filled because i just refuse to take antidepressants and as far as the zyprexa shit goes...that is a VERY STRONG medication so be prepared to feel some weiiiiiiiird shit when you take it. I tried it twice and threw it away.Oh and i mite as well throw in the fact that when i got the xanax script i had told the doc i have been taking it recreationally and he pretty much told me i couldn't just stop cold turkey so thats why he was more willing to write me a script, but he told me i had to ween off of it by the next time i came to see him.

When it comes to topics like this, the only advice that's allowed is to be open and honest with your physicians. If you want to establish a good, trusting relationship with your medical professionals, you should give what they suggest a real chance and just be honest.

Benzos are not a solution to anxiety so your best bet is to find ways to address the cause and/or cope with the effects that is more sustainable. Benzos can be used effectively for a short period while you're exploring other options but when used long term, often exacerbate the situation rather than help it.
